When a vehicle is operated by a driver who has a Class DJ learner permit, every passenger in the vehicle must use a safety restraint (a seat belt, a combination seat belt and shoulder harness, a child restraint seat) .  \nIf you have a learner permit, the following restrictions apply to you:  \nu You may not operate a vehicle unless a supervising driver is in the vehicle with you. The supervising driver must be age 21 or older and must have a valid license to operate the type of vehicle you are in. If the vehicle is a motorcycle or moped, only the supervising driver may ride on it with you.
