Lenin’s theoretical and economic analysis of capitalist world development at the beginning of the twentieth century. The text frames imperialism as an objectively developing stage closely tied to monopolies, finance capital, capital exports, and the division of the world among major powers. It also addresses political implications, including social-chauvinism, the betrayal of socialism, and the conditions surrounding socialist revolution, with extensive chapter coverage and explanatory notes.","IMPERIALISMTHE HIGHEST STAGE OF CAPITALISM1 \nIMPERIALISMTHE HIGHEST STAGEOF CAPITALISM \nTHE LITTLE LENIN LIBRARY \nReprints of his more imporlanl shorl works and articles. \n1.THE TEACHINGS oF KARL MARX.9d. \n2.THE WAR AND THE SECOND INTERNATIONAL.1s.(6d.paper). \n3.SoCIALISM AND WAR.ls.(6d.paper). \nA Popular Outline \n4.WHAT IS TO BE DoNE?2s. \n5.THE PARIS CoMMUNE.1s. \n6.REVOLUTION OF 1905.1s. \n7.RELIGION.ls. \n8.LETTERS FROM AFAR.9d.· \nBY \n9.THE TASKs OF THE PROLETARIAT IN OuR REVOLUTION.9d. \n10.THE APRIL CoNFEBENCE.Is. \nV.I.LENIN \n11.THE THREATENING CATASTROPHE AND How To FiGHT IT.1s \n12.WILL THE BoLSHEVIKS RETAIN STATE PowER?9d. \n13.ON THE EvE OF OcTOBER.9d. \n14.STATE AND REVOLUTION.1s. \n15.IMPERIALISM,THE HIGHEST STAGE OF CAPITALISM.18.6d. \nRevised Translation \n16.“LEFT WING”CoMMUNISM:AN INFANTILE DISORDER.1s. \n17.Two TACTIcs or SoCIAL DEMOCRACY IN THE DEMOCRATICRBVOLUTION.1s.6d. \n18.TE PROLETARIAN RsVOLUTION AND TE RENEGADEKAUTSKY.ls.6d. \nFirat Edition in revised form,1933 \nSecond Edition,1934(December) \nReprined,1937 \nReprinted,1939 \nMADE AND PRINTED 1N CREAT BRITAIN \nCONTENTS \nPREFACE TO THE RuSSLAN EDITION .. .. . . . .7 \nPREFACE TO THE FRENCH AND GERMAN EDITIONS . . . . 9 \nIMPERIALISM,THE HICHEST STAGE OF CAPTTALISM. . . . 15 \nCHAPTER \nI. Zurich in the spring of 1916.Under the conditions in whichI was obliged to work there I naturally suffered from a certain lack ofFrench and English literature and from a very great lack of Russianliterature. However,I made use of the principal English work onimperialism,J.A.Hobson's book, with all the care that,in myopinion, this work deserves. \nThe pamphlet was written with an eye to the tsarist censorship.Hence I was forced not only to confine myself strictly and ex-clusively to a theoretical, particularly economic, analysis, but alsoto formulate the few necessary observations on politics with extremecaution, with pointed hints,in that“Esopian”language—thatcursed“Esopian”language—to which tsarism forced all revolu-tionaries whenever they took pen in hand to write a “legal”work.\" \nIt is painful,in hese days of freedom,to read again in thepamphlet these passages, mutilated by consideration for the tsaristcensorship, gripped and held tight in a vise of iron. How imperial-ism is the eve of the socialist revolution;how social-chauvinism(Socialism in words, chauvinism in deeds)is the complete betrayalof Socialism,a complete desertion to the side of the bourgeoisie;how this split in the labour movement is connected with the objec-tive conditions of imperialism, etc.—of all these things I had thento speak in a“slave”language, and now I must refer the readerwho is interested in the question to the reprint of the book whichis soon to appear, containing the articles I wrote abroad from1914 to 1917.* Special attention should be paid to one passageon pages 119-120:* to make clear to the reader in censor-proof \n“Esopian,”after the Greek fable writer Esop, was the term applied to theallusive and round-about style adopted in “legal”publications by revolution-aries in order to avoid words which would arouse the suspicions of the authori-ties.Thus,instead of\"Social-Democrat\"they would write “consistent Marxist.”—Ed. \n**These articles are now reprinted in Vols.XVIII an","cbCaitIiiKiMh6m5","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaitIiiKiMh6m5","pdf",5720365,5,1,69,"English","en",105,"# Contents\n## Preface\n## Imperialism, the Highest Stage of
