With its increasing application in staging and ready availability, it becomes imperative for committed radiation oncologists to possess a complete analysis and understanding of integration of molecular imaging, which can be helpful for radiation planning, while also acknowledging its possible limitations and challenges. A significant obstacle lies in the synthesis and design of tumor-specific bmolecules for diagnosing and treating cancer. The utilization of radiation in medical biochemistry and biotechnology, encompassing diagnosis, therapy, and control of biological systems, is encapsulated under the umbrella term “nuclear medicine”. Notably, the application of various radioisotopes in pharmaceutics has garnered significant attention, particularly in the realm of delivery systems for drugs, DNA, and imaging agents. The present article provides a comprehensive review of use of novel techniques PET and CT with major positron-emitting radiopharmaceuticals currently in progress or utilized in clinical practice with their integration into imaging and radiation therapy. \nKeywords: cervical cancer; PET; computed tomography; FDG; oncology; radiopharmaceuticals; diagnostics; screening; treatment; follow up \n1. Introduction \nImaging techniques play a key role in medical diagnosis, serving as critical tools for preserving health and life itself. They are indispensable in a myriad of medical investigations, ranging from cancer detection where early diagnosis is imperative to the exploration of neurological diseases and cardiology. Studying metabolic pathways and drug metabolism enhances our understanding of various disorders, potentially paving the way for effective treatments. \nCervical cancer denotes the onset of malignancy originating from cervix cells, the narrow lower portion of the uterus linking it to the vagina (birth canal) . Typically, cervical cancer progresses gradually. Preceding its manifestation, cervical cells undergo dysplastic alterations, characterized by the emergence of anomalous cells within cervical tissue. If left unchecked, the abnormal cells may progress into cancerous cells in the cervix and neighboring regions [1] . \nCervical carcinoma, when restricted to the lower pelvis, may be managed effectively through either surgical intervention or chemoradiotherapy. For women with less significant tumors (about 2 cm) and lacking uterine involvement,","cbCaikOeGnxPZuix","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaikOeGnxPZuix","pdf",326952,"English","# Introduction\n## Cervical cancer background and imaging role\n# Imaging modalities and staging overview\n## CT and CT/PET\n## MRI\n# Summary and implications for radiation planning","[{\"question\":\"What is the main focus of this literature review on PET/CT imaging?\",\"answer\":\"It reviews how PET and CT are used with FDG and other positron-emitting radiopharmaceuticals in locally advanced cervical carcinoma, including integration into imaging and radiation therapy.\"},{\"question\":\"Why is PET/CT considered important in oncology for cervical cancer?\",\"answer\":\"The text describes PET/CT as a pivotal diagnostic modality that supports staging and provides molecular insights that complement structural imaging.\"},{\"question\":\"What limitations are highlighted for CT/PET with FDG?\",\"answer\":\"The document notes false negatives for lesions smaller than about 0.5 cm and possible false-positive results linked to chronic inflammation.\"}]","Impact of PET/CT Imaging with FDG in Locally Advanced Cervical Carcinoma - A Literature Review | PDF",1790030047,48]
