Introduction \nFirst of all thanks for purchasing our book “IELTS Vocabulary Booster”. I hope you’ll find it useful and be able to apply it in practice. \nAs a group ofteachers at the Linguaman language schools we successfully helped many students to prepare for IELTS. Most ofthem reached or exceeded their target scores. There is no doubt that we realize the complexity ofpreparation for IELTS and think that anyone who promises miraculous results or guarantees you a certain band with no prior testing ofyour current level ofEnglish is acheater. But we are convinced that some practices work better than others. For this reason we developed a series ofIELTS educational materials, named them IELTS 911, and incorporated our experience into them. All materials have 3 key characteristics: \n1. They are created with one main goal in mind-to increase you IELTS score as quickly as possible. \n2. They are made to be simple, entertaining, and suitable for candidates with different learning habits. \n3. They work! We tested all ofthem with our students. Virtually everyone enjoyed a significant increase in IELTS results! \nOur first product in this series is the vocabulary course named “IELTS Vocabulary Booster”. It’s specific and precise. It develops professional topic vocabulary for IELTS Writing Task 2. \n Balanced developed vocabulary for the most popular topics ofWriting Task 2 \n Easy explanations for candidates of different levels. \n Contextual learning. Examples and pictures, expression for even better results! \nThis is what our students say about this course: \n“In 4 days I started to use so many new smart words! Ifeel so much more confident! \nAn incredible result!” \n“The single most eficient way to learn new topic specific vocabularyfor IELTS!” \n“Absolutely the best IELTS vocabulary course!” \n2 . IELTS and Writing \nWhat is IELTS? Well, we will not focus too much on IELTS definition and structure. If you are serious about it, you probably have already familiarized yourself with its structure and main features. What I really want to focus on is the writing section. \nThe writing section lasts 60 minutes. You will need to complete two tasks. \n2.1 IELTS Writing Task 1 \nYou will be given a task based on some graphic information (chart, graph, etc.) . You will have to write a descriptive report of at least 150 words. You are advised to spend 20 minutes ofyour exam time on Task 1. \n2.2 IETLS Writing Task 2 \nThis task is more challenging. You are expected to write a 250-word essay on a given topic. You will have to clearly organize your writing and give some examples to support your point. You are advised to spend 40 minutes on Task 2 . \nHere ’s an interesting fact: writing task 2 is worth twice the points as writing task 1 , which means that Task 2 is twice more important for your final score. \nAnother interesting fact: the writing section is the toughest part ofthe exam. Official IELTS test takers ’ statistics indicate that candidates from virtually all countries get their minimum band for writing. Traditionally you take IELTS to achieve your personal or professional goal and you have a specific target band in mind. But remember that you have to score at least an indicated minimum in every section. And here comes writing again! Many candidates have to retake IELTS several times exactly because of failing the writing section. But you will not make the same mistake!
