Its pointless to have a the best session planned if the players skill and ability level will prevent them \nTraining Session Structures \n5 – 8 YR OLDS: \n􀀡 60m-‐70 minutes in length \n􀀡 Warm up should involve basic movement paHerns such as running, jumping, landing, change of direc3on and all with footballs!! \n􀀡 Skill technique (kick, pass, catch) should be main focus of session \n􀀡 Finish with fun game > fun individual or group challenge that is skill related an allows all players to have equal involvement. \n9 – 10 YR OLDS: \n􀀡 Similar to above but the fun games at the end of session start to become more football related (ie. handball / kick only, goal kicking, keepings off games etc.) \nTraining Session Structures \n12-‐14 YR OLDS: \n􀀡 70-‐90minutes in length \n􀀡 Warm up should incorporate specific movement paHerns to help develop func3onal body movement & strength (ie. sumo squats, walking lunges, calf raises, push ups) \n􀀡 Skill technique s3ll important but more related to decision making and execu3on in game seUng (eg. small sided games with small amount ofopposi3on / 3me / space pressure) \n􀀡 Start to work on player posi3oning in rela3on to where the ball is on the field \n􀀡 Introduce ball movement from back to forward and from around the ground stoppages (ball up or throw in) \n􀀡 Introduce specific fitness component (10-‐15min) with body strength (push ups, pull ups, squats, plank) and steady state running (2-‐3 minutes blocks) \nTraining Session Structures \n15-‐16 YR OLDS: \n􀀡 90 -‐ 120 minutes in length \n􀀡 Warm up should incorporate specific movement paHerns to help develop func3onal body movement & strength (ie. sumo squats, walking lunges, calf raises etc.), sprints and agility drills . \n􀀡 Skill technique s3ll important and players should do this pre-‐training if 3me permits with shorter focus in session plan . \n􀀡 Build on ball movement drills from different game scenarios that regularly happen in your games (kick ins, boundary throw ins etc.) with opposed pressure (12 vs 6, 18 vs . 10 etc.) rota3ng players through different roles and posi3ons . \n􀀡 Build on decision making (increased number of players involved player posi3oning and ball movement with opposi3on pressure .","cbCaivJq8fDP8Uzz","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaivJq8fDP8Uzz","pdf",462768,"English","# Training Considerations for Junior Coaches\n## Training Session Structures (Age Groups)","[{\"question\":\"Why should coaches assess players before the season starts?\",\"answer\":\"Each playing group should be assessed on individual ability and football knowledge before the season.
