Students begin the program in the summer (May) and complete their studies the following May. \n*Please note, the following college level courses need to be completed prior to enrollment for consideration into this program: English Composition I, Anatomy & Physiology I and II, Microbiology and General Psychology. \nPreference for the One-Year Advanced Option will be given to those that already possess or will possess a bachelor’s degree by the May start. \nThe Day Option (NUR) is structured as a two-year full-time model with core/clinical nursing courses beginning with the first semester. Instruction is in a fall/spring format. Corequisites can be taken at the same time as clinical related courses. \nThe Weekend Option is structured as a two-year full-time or part-time (depending on what is completed prior to the start of the program) model with core/clinical nursing courses beginning with the first fall semester. \nInstruction is in a fall/spring format. Corequisites can be taken at the same time as clinical related courses during the weekdays or prior to starting the clinical, if a candidate would like to do the program in a two-year format. \nThe Evening Option (NIR) is structured as a four-year part-time model with core/clinical nursing courses beginning two years after the point of acceptance. The evening program may be completed in less than four years depending on transfer credit and space availability. Corequisites can be taken at the same time as clinical related courses during the weekdays or prior to starting the clinical, if a candidate would like to do the program in a two-year format. \nAdditional Consideration \nPlease note that additional consideration may be given to veterans and those applicants who are currently employed atthe local health care facilities located in Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady or Saratoga County. If you are currently employed at one of the local health care facilities, please have your employer submit a letter to the Admissions Office ([admissions@hvcc.edu](admissions@hvcc.edu)) indicating support for the nursing program. \nAbout the Program \nThis Nursing program is one of the most popular programs at Hudson Valley Community College, and for this reason, there are more applicants than there are spaces available. Admission to the Nursing program is considered competitive. \n• The Day, Weekend and Evening programs are a FALL start only. \n• The One-Year Advanced program is a summer (May) start only (but the application has to be submitted to the fall term) .
