\nReading withphonic \n# How to use this book\n\nThe Reading with phonics series helps you tohave fun with your child and to support theirlearning of phonics and reading. It is aimed atchildren who have learned the letter sounds andare building confidence in their reading. \nEach title in the series focuses on a differentkey sound. The entertaining retelling of the storyrepeats this sound frequently, and the differentspellings for the sound are highlighted in redtype. The first activity at the back of the book \nprovides practice in reading and using words that contain thissound. The key sound for Cinderella is ow. \nStart by reading the story to your child, asking them to join inwith the refrain in bold.Next, encourage them to read the storywith you.Give them a hand to decode tricky words. \nNow look at the activity pages at the back of the book. These areintended for you and your child to enjoy together. Most are notactivities to complete in pencil or pen,but by reading and talkingor pointing. \nThe Key sound pages focus on one sound, and on the variousdifferent groups of letters that produce that sound.Encourageyour child to read the different letter groups and complete theactivity,so they become more aware of the variety of spellingsthere are for the same sound. \nThe Letters together pages look at three pairs or groupsof letters and at the sounds they make as they work together.Help your child to read the words and trace the route onthe word maps. \nRhyme is used a lot in these retellings.Whatever stage your childhas reached in their learning of phonics,it is always good practicefor them to listen carefully for sounds and find words that rhyme. The pages on Rhyming words take six words from the story andask children to read and find other words that rhyme with them. \nThe Key words pages focus on a number of key words that occurregularly but can nonetheless be challenging. Many of these wordsare not sounded out following the rules of phonics and the easiestthing is for children to learn them by sight,so that they do notworry about decoding them. These pages encourage children toretell the story, practising key words as they do so. \nThe Picture dictionary page asks children to focus closely \non nine words from the story.Encourage childrento look carefully at each word, cover it with theirhand, write it on a separate piece ofpaper, and finally, check it! \nDo not complete allthe activities atonce-doing one each time you read willensure that your child continues to enjoythe stories and the time you are spendingtogether.Have fun! \n\"Cinderella,clean the house!\"\"Cinderella,wash my blouse!\"\"Cinderella,you behave!\"\"Cinderella,youre a slave!\"Every day, they'd howl and shoutand order the poor girl about. \nThe magic wand spins round and round. Will Cinderella's prince be found? \ntwo stepsisters are so mean. \n6 \nNot allowed a nice, warm bed,she sleeps by the fire instead, near the ashes,in the cellar,so they call her Cinderella. \nThe magic wand spins round and round. Will Cinderella's prince be found?","cbCaip748fVhyQlg","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaip748fVhyQlg","pdf",2061990,36,"English","# How to use this
