Try the Acrobat File menu for free now , select Create a PDF from the file. In an open-air conversation box , select the file you want to convert. You can view all types of files or select a specific type from the drop-off menu of type files. Acrobat shows all the Microsoft Word documents in the selected folder. Additionally , click Settings to change the conversion settings if you convert the image file to a PDF. Options available vary depending on the type of file. Note: The Settings button is not available if you select all files as a file type or if there are no conversion settings for the selected file type. ( For example , the Settings button is not available for Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel files.) Click Open to convert the file to PDF. Depending on the type of file converted , the copyright application opens automatically , or a dialogue window of progress appears. If the file is in an unsupported format , a message appears telling you that the file cannot be converted to a PDF. When the new PDF opens , select File and Save or File Save How , and then choose the name and location for the PDF. Note: When naming a PDF for electronic distribution , limit the file name to eight characters (no spaces) and include a . pdf extension. This action ensures that email programs or network servers are not truncated by the name of the file and that the PDF opens as expected. This method is best suited to small , simple files such as small image files and simple text files , when the balance between file size and output quality is not important. You can use this method with many other file types , but you can't set up any conversion settings during the process. Select icons for one or more files in Windows Explorer or Mac OS Finder. If the clipboard is empty , the command is off. You can create an empty PDF rather than start with a file , an image of a clipboard or scan. This process can be useful for creating a one-page PDF. For longer , more complex , or more formatted documents , it's best to create a source document in an app that offers more layout and formatting options , such as Adobe InDesign or Microsoft Word. At Adobe Acrobat , close all open documents. Select Tools: Create a PDF and a blank page and create. A blank one-page PDF is created.
