\n\n| How to Add a New Configuration to an Existing MPLAB\u003Cbr>Harmony v3 Project |\n| --- |\n| Introduction |\n\nMPLAB® Harmony v3 is a modular framework that provides interoperable firmware libraries for application development on 32-bit microcontrollers and microprocessors. It includes an easy-to-use graphical user interface (GUI), MPLAB Harmony Configurator (MHC) for selection, configuration and generation of code, peripheral libraries, drivers, and extensive middleware (USB, TCP/IP, graphics, etc.,) . \nThis document describes how to add a new configuration to an existing MPLAB Harmony v3 project. \n© 2021 Microchip Technology Inc. and its subsidiaries \nTechnical Brief DS90003304A-page 1 \nTB3304 Overview \n1. Overview \nMPLAB X IDE allows multiple build configurations for the same project. This feature is useful for the code that is compiled on many hardware platforms. However, when you create a new project, a default configuration is created. Historically, MPLAB Harmony v2 projects typically used the build configuration feature of MPLAB X IDE to share application code across different development boards or kits. However, MPLAB Harmony v3 example projects do not use the build configuration option of MPLAB X IDE to enable sharing of application code across hardware platforms. MPLAB Harmony v3 contains example projects for many applications supporting different configurations. However, a custom board will require its own configuration to run an existing example project. \nThis document describes porting an MPLAB Harmony v3 project to another configuration when using a different development board. For example, the UART echo blocking application example, available for the PIC32MZ EF in MPLAB Harmony package csp_apps_pic32mz_ef, is available for the PIC32MZ Embedded Connectivity with FPU (EF) Starter Kit board. This document also describes how to use the source code files of the existing project on the Curiosity PIC32MZ EF 2.0 Development Board. \n© 2021 Microchip Technology Inc. and its subsidiaries \nTechnical Brief DS90003304A-page 2 \nTB3304 \nAdding a New Configuration \n2. Adding a New Configuration \n1. Creating a project in MPLAB X IDE: \n1.1. In the New Project window, under Steps, select Project Settings and enter details for Name and Locations. For the UART Echo Blocking application example, the location is the download path of the package, \u003Ccsp_apps_pic32mz_ef>\\apps\\uart\\uart_echo_blocking. If using the csp_apps_pic32mz_ef package, downloaded at C:\\harmony\\v3 , the path will be C:\\harmony\\v3\\csp_apps_pic32mz_ef\\apps\\uart\\uart_echo_blocking. \n1.2. Location: Indicates the path to the existing application root folder. \n1.3. Folder: Indicates the name of the MPLABX.X IDE folder. Enter pic32mz_ef_curiosity_v2 to create the pic32mz_ef_curiosity_v2 .X folder. \n1.4. Name: Enter the project’s logical name as uart_echo_blocking_ \npic32mz_ef_curiosity_v2 , and this name will be displayed in the MPLAB X IDE. \nFigure 2-1. Project Settings \n1.5. Click Next. \n1.6. In the New Project window, under Steps, select Configuration Settings and then enter required details in the right pane. \n1.7. The configuration setting is named as pic32mz_ef_curiosity_v2 . \n1.8. Set the target device to PIC32MZ2048EFM144 (the MCU part on Curiosity PIC32MZ EF 2.0 Development Board), and then click Finish. \n© 2021 Microchip Technology Inc. and its subsidiaries \nTechnical Brief DS90003304A-page 3 \nTB3304 \nAdding a New Configuration \nFigure 2-2. Configuration Settings \n1.9. A new project is created. Launch the MHC by clicking on the dialogue box that is showing the prompt to launch MHC. \n2. Import the MHC configuration from the existing project on the PIC32MZ Embedded Connectivity with FPU (EF) Starter Kit Board. \n– Copy the existing configuration path: \nC:\\harmony\\v3\\csp_apps_pic32mz_ef\\apps\\uart\\uart_echo_blocking\\firmware\\src\\config\\pic32mz_ef_sk\\pic32mz_ef_sk. mhc. \n– In the MPLAB Harmony Configurator window, select File > Import.","cbCaiv9o3mZkbtN1","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiv9o3mZkbtN1","pdf",605920,13,"English","# Introduction\n# Overview\n# Adding a New Configuration\n## Creating a project in MPLAB X IDE\n## Import the MHC configuration from an existing project\n## Generate the project using Code Generate\n## Copy application files to the new project","[{\"question\":\"How do I create a new MPLAB X IDE project configuration for MPLAB Harmony v3?\",\"answer\":\"In MPLAB X IDE’s New Project wizard, set Project Settings (name and locations), then choose Configuration Settings, set the target device (e.g., PIC32MZ2048EFM144), and finish to create the new configuration.\"},{\"question\":\"How do I import an MHC configuration from an existing MPLAB Harmony v3 project?\",\"answer\":\"Open MHC from the prompt, select File \\u003e Import, paste the existing configuration path, and confirm the import by checking the updates in the project graph.\"},{\"question\":\"What are the options for copying application files from the existing project to the new project?\",\"answer\":\"You can add existing items manually when only a few files are needed (Add Existing Item), or copy and overwrite the configurations.xml file in the new project and update configuration name and MCU part number before importing changes.\"}]","How to Add a New Configuration to an Existing MPLAB - Harmony v3 Project | PDF",33]
