Design/Approach/Methods: Screen studies using Shulruf’s five methodological steps, then conduct inductive analysis and constant comparison. Findings: Analytic induction identifies four themes—historical development, policy influence, CL conceptualization, and CL implementation—showing ambiguity in conceptualization and predominantly quantitative documentation, with limited elementary-level studies. CL is one of the most influential and widespread areas of theory, research, and practice in western education. With the promotion of Chinese government policies, CL has become a popular field of research and was widely used as a pedagogical practice in Chinese. \nDesign/Approach/Methods: Shulruf’s five methodological steps were utilized as the process of screening and selecting relevant studies. Inductive analysis and constant comparison were conducted for analyzing the chosen literature. \nFindings: The analytic induction revealed four key themes: (a) historical development,(b) policy influence, (c) conceptualization of CL, and (d) implementation of CL. In addition, few studies were conducted at the elementary school level. \nOriginality/Value: This is a comprehensive literature review on CL in Chinese PE. Findings and recommendations in this article will be beneficial for policymakers, scholars, and PE teachers to better understand and promote CL in China. \nKeywords \nChinese physical education, cooperative learning, education, systematic literature review Date received: 16 May 2020; revised: 1 January 2021, 9 March 2021; accepted: 12 March 2021 \nIntroduction \nCooperative learning (CL) was developed as a pedagogical practice in the United States during the 1970s amid concerns that students rarely had the opportunity to develop interpersonal and emotional skills in traditional and competitive school environments (Johnson & Johnson, 2009; Kagan & Kagan, 2009; Slavin, 1995, 1996) . CL has been defined as a dynamic pedagogical practice that can teach diverse content to students at different grade levels in physical education (PE) (Casey & Goodyear, 2015) . In a cooperative PE class, students could work together in small, structured, and heterogeneous groups to complete group tasks (Dyson, 2001) . While there are various teaching structures in CL (e.g., Learning Team, Pair-Check-Perform, and Jigsaw), five essential elements are recommended by Johnson and Johnson (1989) to fully implement CL: positive interdependence, individual accountability, promotive face-to-face interaction, interpersonal and small group skills, and group proces","cbCaivWmNzxiAjRz","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaivWmNzxiAjRz","pdf",241867,22,"English","en",105,"# Abstract\n# Purpose\n# Design/Approach/Methods\n# Findings\n# Originality/Value\n# Introduction","[{\"question\":\"What is the main purpose of the literature review?\",\"answer\":\"The review investigates how cooperative learning (CL) has been conceptualized and implemented in Chinese physical education (PE).\"},{\"question\":\"How were relevant studies selected and analyzed?\",\"answer\":\"Studies were screened and selected using Shulruf’s five methodological steps, followed by inductive analysis and constant comparison.\"},{\"question\":\"What themes were identified about CL in Chinese PE?\",\"answer\":\"Four key themes emerged: historical development, policy influence, conceptualization of CL, and implementation of CL.\"}]","How Cooperative Learning Is Conceptualized and Implemented in Chinese Physical Education - A Systematic Review of Literature | PDF",1792092336,55,{"code":4,"msg":82,"data":83},"ok",{"site_id":75,"language":74,"slug":84,"title":65,"keywords":85,"description":66,"schema_data":86,"social_meta":140,"head_meta":142,"extra_data":144,"updated_unix":145},"how-cooperative-learning-is-conceptualized-and-implemented-in-chinese-physical-education-a-systematic-review-of-literature","",{"@graph":87,"@context":139},[88,102,122],{"@type":89,"itemListElement":90},"BreadcrumbList",[91,95,97,100],{"item":92,"name":93,"@type":94,"position":8},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":96,"name":9,"@type":94,"position":14},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/",{"item":98,"name":40,"@type":94,"position":99},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/research-report/",3,{"item":101,"name":65,"@type":94,"position":19},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/how-cooperative-learning-is-conceptualized-and-implemented-in-chinese-physical-education-a-systematic-review-of-literature/601288/",{"url":101,"name":65,"@type":103,"image":104,"author":109,"headline":65,"publisher":111,"fileFormat":114,"inLanguage":74,"description":66,"dateModified":115,"datePublished":116,"encodingFormat":114,"isAccessibleForFree":117,"interactionStatistic":118},"DigitalDocument",{"url":105,"@type":106,"width":107,"height":108},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/how-cooperative-learning-is-conceptualized-and-implemented-in-chinese-physical-education-a-systematic-review-of-literature/601288.png","ImageObject",300,407,{"name":63,"@type":110},"Person",{"url":92,"name":112,"@type":113},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-10-31","2026-10-15",true,{"@type":119,"interactionType":120,"userInteractionCount":34},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":121},"ViewAction",{"@type":123,"mainEntity":124},"FAQPage",[125,131,135],{"name":126,"@type":127,"acceptedAnswer":128},"What is the main purpose of the literature review?","Question",{"text":129,"@type":130},"The review investigates how cooperative learning (CL) has been conceptualized and implemented in Chinese physical education (PE).","Answer",{"name":132,"@type":127,"acceptedAnswer":133},"How were relevant studies selected and analyzed?",{"text":134,"@type":130},"Studies were screened and selected using Shulruf’s five methodological steps, followed by inductive analysis and constant comparison.",{"name":136,"@type":127,"acceptedAnswer":137},"What themes were identified about CL in Chinese PE?",{"text":138,"@type":130},"Four key themes emerged: historical development, policy influence, conceptualization of CL, and implementation of CL.","https://schema.org",{"og:url":101,"og:type":141,"og:title":65,"og:site_name":112,"og:description":66},"article",{"robots":143,"canonical":101},"index,follow",{"doc_id":61,"site_id":75},1792190923]
