The book explores winter traditions and experiences. It is described as a children's story focusing on the season of Shishira Ritu, detailing a visit to a Groundnut Fair in Bengaluru where various forms of groundnuts are sold, including dry, boiled, and salted nuts. The narrative also touches upon the 'Ponkh' festival in Gujarat, where millet is roasted and eaten, and mentions the desire to buy a warm shawl for a grandmother. The story highlights the changing weather, with the protagonist experiencing colder temperatures and observing frosty breaths. It further illustrates winter customs from Shimla, like making snow heaps and participating in a Snowman Competition, emphasizing the cultural diversity and festive spirit associated with winter across different regions. The book aims to provide young readers with insights into seasonal changes and cultural practices, encouraging an appreciation for traditions and familial bonds during the colder months.","Hot Tea and Warm Rugs \nAuthors: Mala Kumar, Manisha Chaudhry Illustrator: Priya Kuriyan \nEnglish Story Book \nHot Tea and Warm Rugs \nAuthors: Mala Kumar, Manisha Chaudhry Illustrator: Priya Kuriyan Reformatted for Bloom By: Cara Ediger Pratham Books \nEnglish \nHot Tea and Warm Rugs \nAuthors: Mala Kumar, Manisha Chaudhry \nIllustrator: Priya Kuriyan \nCopyright © 2012, Pratham Books \nYou are free to make commercial use of this work. Winter is called Shishira Ritu in Sanskrit. I love to eat hot things in this season . \nAmma took us to the Groundnut Fair yesterday. There were big hills of groundnuts on both sides of the road near the Bull Temple in Bengaluru . Dry nuts, boiled and salted nuts, roasted nuts! \nAmma says people in Gujarat have a Ponkh festival in winter. Farmers roast bundles of millet on coal stoves . Everyone eats the fresh, green, plump and tender beads of millet grains called ponkh. \nI wore a bright blue sweater to the fair. There were many stalls all along the road. Manu wanted to goon the merry-go-round. I wanted to buy grandma a warm, soft shawl. \nIt is so cold now . I rub my hands together as I walk to school. My new red bangles make a pretty sound! Oh, how nice, I say aloud and I can see a frosty cloud in front of my mouth as I talk! \nMy friend Rajni lives in Shimla. In her grandfather’s village, they pack snow into bamboo baskets to make cone shaped snow heaps on rooftops. Then the children go to take the blessings of all the elders. Rajni also told me about the Snowman Competition.","cbCaihm9C5TjCFwO","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaihm9C5TjCFwO","pdf",116043577,21,"English","en",105,"","[{\"question\":\"What is Shishira Ritu?\",\"answer\":\"Shishira Ritu is the Sanskrit name for winter.
