It promotes enjoyment of storybooks, development of vocabulary, the skills of prediction, sequencing and main idea, and the understanding that books are made up of words. \nOn Monday , the teacher \n shows everyone the cover of the book \n reads the title, while moving a finger under it \n turns to the first page, and discusses the picture (asks the children to predict what will happen) \n reads the text on the first page, fluently (not slowly), and \n asks the children what they think they will see on each page. (The teacher is the only one “reading.”) On Tuesday , the teacher \n shows everyone the book, and \n reads the story again, following the words with a finger, without as much discussion of the pictures. \nOn Wednesday , the teacher \n invites children to join in with “reading” when the story comes to parts which are familiar to them \n shows a flashcard from the story and tells the class what the card says, and \n invites children to find the same word in the storybook (or to match the card with the word in the book to see if it is the same) On Thursday , the teacher \n points smoothly to the words in the story and lets some volunteers “read” a page, if they can remember the story by now, and \n lets the children match the flashcards to the words in the story. \nOn Friday , the children \n act out (dramatize) the story as others help the teacher “read” it.","cbCaiuo5ygzzVO9P","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiuo5ygzzVO9P","pdf",544925,11,"English","en",105,"# Teacher Plan\n## Monday\n## Tuesday\n## Wednesday\n## Thursday\n## Friday","[{\"question\":\"What teaching goals does the “Holidays” teacher plan emphasize?\",\"answer\":\"It promotes enjoyment of storybooks, vocabulary development, and comprehension skills such as prediction, sequencing, and main idea understanding.\"},{\"question\":\"How does the teacher approach the book on Monday?\",\"answer\":\"The teacher shows the cover, reads the title while pointing with a finger, previews the first page picture, and reads the first page fluently while prompting children’s predictions.\"},{\"question\":\"What activities are used from Wednesday to Friday?\",\"answer\":\"On Wednesday, children join in on familiar parts using flashcards and word matching.
