Read the HiSET® Exam Overview section on p. xi–xv and familiarize yourself with the exam policies. \n2. Follow the instructions on p. 1 to complete the Pretests. Use your results to fill in the Pretest Study Planners on p. 64–68. \nCreating a Study Schedule: \nTwo main factors will impact your personal study schedule: \n1. How much time you have to study. If you have six months or more to prepare for the exam, you have the benefit of having ample time to review all the tested topics. If you have four to six months, you can still review all the tested topics, but you will need to increase your daily study time. If you have three months or less, you’ ll most likely need to target your study. \n2. Your Pretest results. Whatever your timeframe for prep, use your results to help you prioritize your study. If you plan on reviewing all the topics, your results will help you know which topics will likely require the most time, and you can plan accordingly. If you will need to target your study on certain topics, you can prioritize those topics on which you missed the most questions. \nSee p. ix for additional tips about creating your study schedule. \nComponents of study schedules: \n1. Lessons. Your book divides each of the five HiSET® tests into several topics, and each topic is divided into 3–15 Lessons. See the Contents on p. iii–vi. \n2. End-of-Topic Practice Question Sets. Each topic concludes with a Practice Set designed to help you assess your mastery. Use the results of these Practice Sets to help guide what material you review. \n[800.448.8878 | www. newreaderspress.com](800.448.8878 | www. newreaderspress.com) 1 \n3. Review. Since the HiSET® covers so much material, keep in mind that you’ ll need to schedule time to revisit material you’ve already studied so you don’t forget what you’ve learned. The schedules below assume you are planning about an hour a week to review, as well as a full week of review immediately before your test date. \n4. Practice Tests. Plan to take the Practice Tests during your last month of study, no more than two weeks before you are scheduled to take the actual exam. If you’ re scheduled to take the entire real exam in one day, try to take all the Practice Tests in one day. Otherwise, you can spread the Practice Tests over multiple days. Plan to take at least an hour to review each Practice Test, and use your results to help guide what material you will review in your fi nal week before the exam. \nNotes on study time: \nThe sample schedules below recommend you work through 1–3 Lessons each day. The time required to complete a Lesson will vary from person to person and topic to topic; you may fi nd you can do Lessons on some familiar topics in as little as 30 minutes, while a Lesson about amore challenging topic might take 2 hours or more. Try not to let the time it takes to work through a Lesson discourage you! Remember that every person’s learning pace is unique, and take the needed time to work through the material until you’ re comfortable with it. These sample study schedules will assume that a Lesson takes an average of 1 hour to complete, but adjust your schedule accordingly based upon the actual time it takes you. \nFive sample schedules are included below. Use these samples as a guide to help you create your personalized study schedule, based on the number of months and hours per day you can devote to prep. \nSample Schedules Included: \n● 6 Months or More, Every Topic, ~ 1-2 hours per day \n● 4 Months, Every Topic, ~ 2 hours per day \n● 4 Months, Targeted Review, ~ 1 hour per day \n● 3 Months, Targeted Review, ~ 2 hours per day \n● 3 Months, Targeted Review, ~ 1 hour per day \n[800.448.8878 | www. newreaderspress.com](800.448.8878 | www. newreaderspress.com) 2 \nSample Schedule: 6 Months or More, Every Topic \nAssumes: ~ 1-2 hours per day, 6 days per week \n1-2 Lessons and/or End-of-Topic Practice Questio","cbCaik8KXOBHCmUA","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaik8KXOBHCmUA","pdf",262540,14,"English","# Creating Your HiSET Study Schedule\n## First Steps\n## Creating a Study Schedule\n## Components of study schedules\n## Notes on study time\n## Five sample schedules included\n## Sample schedule: 6 Months or More, Every Topic","[{\"question\":\"What should you do first to create a HiSET study schedule?\",\"answer\":\"Read the HiSET Exam Overview section and familiarize yourself with exam policies, then complete the Pretests and use the results to complete the Pretest Study Planners.\"},{\"question\":\"How do study time and Pretest results affect your schedule?\",\"answer\":\"Your available time determines whether you can review all tested topics or must increase daily time, while Pretest results help prioritize topics that likely need more time or that you should target based on missed questions.\"},{\"question\":\"What schedule components are included in the study plan?\",\"answer\":\"The plan includes lessons, end-of-topic practice question sets to check mastery, scheduled review time to revisit material, and practice tests during the last month (up to two weeks before the exam).\"},{\"question\":\"When should you take the practice tests?\",\"answer\":\"Take the practice tests during the last month of study, no more than two weeks before the actual exam; if taking the real exam in one day, take all practice tests in one day, otherwise spread them over multiple days.\"}]","HiSET Exam Prep Fourth Edition - Creating Your HiSET Study Schedule | PDF",35]
