How much does the HESI cost and where do I pay for the assessment?  \nThe cost of the HESI is $50. Students will pay for the HESI at CVTC on the day of the assessment.  \n2. Is HESI a timed test?  \nYes, the maximum allotted time for the test is 4 hours.  \n3. When should I take the HESI?  \nIt is recommended that students take the HESI after completing General Anatomy & Physiology. Students should meet with an academic advisor to discuss the admission requirements and to create an academic plan.  \n4. What am I tested on?  \nThe HESI A2 includes the following five sections and students can take the sections in any order they choose. The test questions are typically related to health care.  \n􀁸 Reading comprehension measures the capability to understand reading passages. Students are required to identify a primary theme, find the meaning of phrases in context, and determine logical inferences. (55 questions)  \n􀁸 Basic grammar principles are evaluated, including important terms, their uses in grammar, common grammatical errors, and parts of speech. (30 questions)  \n􀁸 Math includes addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios, proportions, fractions, decimals, conversions, household measures, and dosage calculations. A TI-30XS calculator is provided. (55 questions)  \n􀁸 Critical Thinking and Personality Style sections are scored, however scores are not required for admission.  \nCVTC does not test students on the topics of biology, chemistry, or physics.  \n5. What scores do I need to achieve?  \nCVTC requires scores of 75 in English (composite of reading comprehension, grammar, and vocabulary), 75 in Anatomy & Physiology, and 75 in Math.  \n6. What if I do not meet the minimum HESI scores that are required?  \nStudents will need to retest in order to satisfy the admission requirement. Students have three attempts to successfully pass the assessment. There is a 30-day waiting period between the first and second attempt and a 1-year waiting period between the second and third/final attempt. Students only need to retest in those areas in which the required score was not met, but can retest in all areas. CVTC will use the highest score from each area and apply it towards the admission requirement. The cost to retest is $50.  \n7. Will I know my test results right away?  \nStudents will receive same day test scores upon completion of the assessment.  \n8. Are study sessions offered?  \nWe highly recommend CVTC’s 4-hour HESI Prep seminar through Academic Services prior to taking the assessment. This 4-hour FREE seminar is typically held monthly. The seminar covers reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary and general knowledge (parts of speech, important terms and their uses in grammar, commonly occurring grammatical errors, basic vocabulary that is often used in health care fields), anatomy & physiology, and mathematics (ranging from basic operations to calculating drug dosages and solutions) .
