114 \nDEVOTED TO MENTAL HEALTH & WELLBEING £5.99 \nRejuvenations \nDaily \nEasy, transformative, \nsustainable routines \nThis big, \nStep inside the growing dance movement that sets us free \nBEAUTIFUL WORLD \nHow to find awein the everyday \nREGENERATIVE LIVING | 5-MINUTE MINDFULNESS | THE HAPPIFUL POETRY PRIZE \n“More important than how fast you’re going is where you’re headed.” \nStephen R. Covey, First Things First \nKathryn’s portrait | Sarah Cresswell \nGrowing \nRecently, I was driving home from visiting some family in north-east England. As we came on to the M1 at Sheffield, I looked out the window and saw something surprising: an apple tree. There it was, growing in the central reservation, bright red apples, fruitful and bold. In among the mechanical chaos of the M1, there was something \nbeautiful, organic, and resilient. Messages of hope and resilience are all around us. Plants \nthrough it \nBeyond that, we’re also looking at regenerative living, and how this approach could help us deal with eco-anxiety (p16), sharing tips for how to get more from self-help books (p38), and exploring how to deal with jealousy spirals (p57) . Plus, the Happiful Poetry Prize 2027 is officially open – find all the details on p10 . \nThat tree I was just talking about may well have been the result of someone throwing an apple \nthat work their shoots through concrete. Salmon swimming upstream to spawn. Creaky trees with serpentine branches that have weathered every storm. And, of course, people who are taking things one day at a time. It’s astounding, really, the good that can come with time and perseverance. \nWhen I was planning this issue, I saw similar themes emerging. For our cover feature on p22, we step into the world of ecstatic dance, and ask what setting our bodies free can do for our minds (and the ways we connect with ourselves and others) . We explore how‘calls to nowhere’are helping people deal with things left unsaid (p35) . And we hear the story of the ‘Gazan animal-keeper’ – the man helping children heal with the help of animals (p49) . \ncore out of their car window. It’s littering, really. And I’m not suggesting the lesson here isabout chucking things around and seeing what happens. As we know, meaningful growth takes care, perseverance, and time. \nBut, still, hope can crop up incurious and unexpected places. My challenge to you is to be open to stumbling upon it. Stories overheard in cafés. Awe-inspiring nature (from the patternson leaves to soaring trees) . Someone close to you working their way through a challenge. May hope find you, and may it flourish. Like an apple tree by the side of a motorway. \nKATHRYN WHEELER \n| ACTING EDITOR \nAt Happiful, inclusivity, representation, and creating a happier, healthier society are at the forefront of our mission.
