\nam not the happiest person.I don't always have a smile on myface.I don't wake up feeling full of joy each morning, racing toget out of bed, high fiving the wall.(Do people high five walls?Itseems like something a super happy person might do.Maybe.).Iam much more likely to stumble over something on the floor andgrace the day with a curse as my first word. \nAside from occasional low moods that most of us experience atsome point,I have suffered more seriously with bouts ofdepression where I've felt like I was drowning in darkness.Unableto even contemplate getting out of bed let alone lifting my arm tohigh five anything. \nOk...so...erm..'why are you writing this book??I want toknow how to be happy!'you are probably thinking.Sure,I am nota trained professional in psychology able to impart years ofresearch and wisdom on the subject of happiness, but what I cando is share with you some things that have really helped me lift mymood and think happier. \nBy Lana Grace Riva \nI have read a lot about mental health,I've attendedmindfulness classes,I've been to therapy,I've tried to educatemyself in general on how the brain works. All in a bid to helpmyself stay afloat in life.Throughout all that I began writing downwhat I realized was working for me -mainly because I have aterrible memory, but also because I knew I'd find it helpful to haveit all collected in one place. So it occurred to me that as I waswriting it down anyway...I should write it in book form and shareit with you lovely people in case it may be of use to others. \nIt's quite a short book, partly because it's easier to rememberthe content that way.Mainly though,it's because if you areimpatient like me about seeing results you will want to just get onwith putting into practice what I've written about,as opposed tospending vast amounts of time reading about theory. \nI won't be going into scientific detail about parts of the brain, using exciting terms such as cortex and amygdala.Reading aboutthose I found truly fascinating, but the main take away from myreading there which is relevant here is that it is entirely possible tochange how you think. \nYou may feel as I have in the past that 'this is how I think soI'm stuck thinking this way forever','I'm always going to reactthis way','I'm always going to be unhappy','I must have just beenborn a negative thinker'.The good news is that these statementsare not true, you are not stuck with your current brain,it is everevolving and within your control to change.Well, unless themedical professionals in the books I read were misleading me...inwhich case...er...But in all seriousness,I've seen it in myself.I candefinitely notice a difference in how I think,I feel like I am re-training my brain so it's absolutely possible for you to do the same. \nIf you consider yourself already generally quite a happy personthat is wonderful.Hearing that others are happy is actually one \nHAPPIER THINKING \nthing that makes me happy so thank you for existing. If you aresuch a person, you are probably unlikely to be reading this bookbut in case you are -I'm sure there is always room forimprovement,or you could be hoping to help others becomehappier. This book is not aimed at any specific type of person.Alllevels of current happiness welcome. \nI must warn you at this point that what is within this book isnot an overnight fix for instant happiness.I imagine I would beforever famous if that were the case.I have no wish to be foreverfamous. Not that becoming famous would stop me from sharingsuch an amazing fix if I had it.But I don't.So I'll stop talkingabout the imag","cbCaihOQdwBOCaIz","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaihOQdwBOCaIz","pdf",1831969,"English","# Preface - Why write this book\n## Not an overnight fix\n## Suggestions
