\n# PRAYER IN DAILY LIFE\n\nTo begin with,on the face of it,prayer looks like sheerwaste of time.Prayer takes so much for granted.Itassumes first, that there is a God to whom one can speakat any time,on any matter;second, that God is interestedin and listening to the one who prays;thirdly, that He isable and willing to answer prayer;and fourthly, thatthough millions of people all over the world may bepraying at the same moment,God can and does hear eachprayer, and answers with perfect wisdom. So one mightgo on with such prayer-problems,and probably at somestage in our experience, each one of us has faced these andsimilar questions. \n'Why pray?’suggests the Enemy.‘God knows whatis going to happen.Your praying cannot make theslightest difference.'And what the devil says sounds sological and sensible. But—is it?Perhaps as we do alittle careful thinking, and look together into the Word ofGod,we may find enlightenment upon our problems, andencouragement in our praying. It is as we think and learnabout prayer ourselves that we lay the foundation forhelping others—whether children or adults—to pray. \nAnd now for some questions and suggested answers. \n# 1.Exactly why is prayer so important?\n\nIT IS IMPORTANT because it is a command to be obeyed, aprivilege to be enjoyed, and carries promises to be claimed. \n(a)Prayer is a command to be obeyed. The Bible is fullof references to prayer, and a large number of thesereferences are,in fact, instructions or commands to pray.Look at some of them. \n‘...call upon me in the day of trouble...'(Psalm 50.15).‘...pour out your heart before him. (Psalm 62.8).‘...Seek ye the Lord...(Isaiah 55.6). \n‘...ask in prayer,believing...’(Matthew 21.22).‘...men ought [owe it to God]always to pray...' \n(Luke 18.1). \n‘I will [God desires]that men pray everywhere...(1 Timothy 2.8)....come boldly [confidently]to the throne of grace.(Hebrews 4.16).‘Continue in prayer...’(Colossians 4.2).‘Pray without ceasing...(1 Thessalonians 5.17). \nThe last two references mean, among other things,‘Have no gaps in your prayer-life’.So far as the Bibleis concerned, prayer for the Christian is a command to beobeyed;the prayerless Christian is a disobedient child inGod’s family. \n(b)Prayer is a privilege to be enjoyed.Prayer is anaudience with royalty! If we realized that,it wouldrevolutionize our praying.God is the King of heaven, and He invites me into His audience-chamber.The storyof Esther and King Ahasuerus gives us a picture of such aroyal invitation. We read that‘when the King sawEsther...he held out...the golden sceptre...and said \n·..What is thy request?’(Esther 5.2-3).So,too,thewhole of the Epistle to the Hebrews says,'Come boldly[confidently]to the throne..'(Hebrews 4.16). \nImagine the following highly improbable situation. One morning,I receive in the post a personal invitationfrom Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth to call and see her at","cbCaiiEEWXC3eB3L","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiiEEWXC3eB3L","pdf",1611767,32,"English","# INTRODUCTION\n# PRAYER IN DAILY LIFE\n## 1.
