Not Seifert’s Pharmacy, located on the corner of 68th Street and Park Avenue – or rather, on Seifert’s Way, the new street name bestowed by Mayor Wayne Zitt and the Town Council on Saturday, Mar. 16. \nIn business since 1904 – when Teddy Roosevelt was president and only a few months after the Wright Brothers flew the first powered aircraft at Kitty Hawk – at what was then listed as 21 Park Avenue in Guttenberg, the store was registered under the name of owner/pharmacist Eric Seifert in 1909. Nicholas Picca came to work there on a temporary basis after his honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy in 1947 and Seifert liked him so much he asked Picca to stay, making him a partner a few years later. \nWhen Seifert died in 1967, Picca purchased the business, keeping the Seifert \nContinued on page 5 \nSt. Patrick Smiles on Guttenberg \nThe saints certainly smiled on Guttenberg’s annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration, held this year on Saturday, Mar. 16. Spring came early – at least for one day – and the weather couldn’t have been better for the parade that gathered at 70th Street near Kennedy Boulevard and snaked its way up and down side streets as it crossed from one end of town to the other. \nMayor Wayne Zitt and the Town Council led hundreds of residents and friends, many clad in green or attired in holiday costumes, while neighbors stepped out of their homes to enjoy the passing festivities. \nAmong those marching were the boys’ and girls’ basketball championship teams, the Guttenberg Twirlers, members of North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue and the Guttenberg Police Department, Assemblyman Julio Marenco, a troupe of kilted bagpipers and drummers, and many more. \nThe destination was the street in front of Wild Rover Pub, where two bands performed on a big elevated stage for free. First up were local favorites Finish \nContinued on next page \nMayor’s Corner \nSpringtime is cleaning time. It’s when we all tend to sort through our garages, attics, storerooms, even our refrigerators to review and renew. Just please keep in mind that when you throw away any and all household trash, it MUST be put in containers. For health and safety concerns, household trash cannot be left out in loose bags. We take our quality-of-life issues very seriously in Guttenberg to ensure our residents are safe and our streets are orderly. For the same reason, we continue to work with landlords on addressing illegal apartments. Landlords who have illegal apartments are strongly encouraged to reach out to us to avoid stiff penalties. Residents can report illegal apartments at 201-868-2315 or by email [at cbowen@myguttenberg.com](at cbowen@myguttenberg.com). \nMayor Zitt Teams Up with a Leprechaun to Serve Big, Tasty St. Pat’s Breakfast to Seniors \nGuttenberg played host to a real live leprechaun – albeit a wee bit taller than the standard issue – at a special breakfast for seniors on Friday, Mar. 15. A tasty St. Patrick’s Day meal of green bagels, corned beef, scrambled eggs, home fries, and croissants was provided free, accompanied by juices, coffee, and dessert. \nIn addition to the sprightly leprechaun, who flitted about distributing lucky gold coins (with a chocolate center), the event was hosted by Mayor Wayne Zitt and Council Members Monica Fundora and Richard Delafue","cbCaildmtCOzDsIW","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaildmtCOzDsIW","pdf",5362476,12,"English","# Mayor’s Corner\n## Spring cleaning and trash disposal guidelines\n## Illegal apartments reporting\n# Park Avenue renamed to “Seifert’s Way”\n# St. Patrick’s Day celebrations\n## Seniors’ breakfast with a leprechaun\n## Parade and live music at Wild Rover Pub\n# ALK basketball championship honors","[{\"question\":\"What guidance does Mayor Wayne Zitt provide in the April 2024 issue?\",\"answer\":\"The mayor emphasizes that household trash must be placed in containers and not left in loose bags for health and safety.
