Introduction \nRefer to the APS Code of Ethics (2007), General Principle A: Respect for the rights and dignity of people and peoples. \nThey [Psychologists] have a high regard for the diversity and uniqueness of people and their right to linguistically and culturally appropriate services. Psychologists acknowledge people’s right to be treated fairly without discrimination or favouritism, and they endeavour to ensure that all people have reasonable and fair access to psychological services and share in the benefits that the practice of psychology can offer. \n1.1. The process of psychological assessment encompasses multiple sources of data, such as psychological tests, observation, structured interviews, questionnaires, rating scales, checklists, and other forms of data collection (Aiken & Groth-Marnat, 2006) . \n1.2. As psychological tests are the most common method of assessment both in psychological services to individuals and in research, these Guidelines have sections devoted to their use, and ethical principles and standards that apply specifically to them. \n1.3. Psychologists undertake psychological assessment in diverse settings and are aware that clients’ language and cultural background are important factors influencing the assessment. This awareness influences psychologists’: \na) choice of assessment methods; \nb) interpretation of results; \nc) compilation of their reports; and \nd) communication to their clients regarding the assessment. \n1.4. Psychologists undertake psychological assessment for varying purposes. A psychological assessment may be undertaken as a foundation for: \na) diagnosis-for example, cognitive impairment; intellectual ability; psychiatric illness; learning difficulty; etc. \nb) planning and intervention-for exam","cbCaii4VycPxBzqU","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaii4VycPxBzqU","pdf",124880,11,"English","# Introduction\n## The process of psychological assessment\n## Purposes of psychological assessment\n# Psychological assessments\n## Specifying purposes and limits\n## Selecting, administering, and interpreting procedures\n## Reporting results in understandable language\n# Informed Consent","[{\"question\":\"What ethical principles guide psychological assessment in these guidelines?\",\"answer\":\"The guidelines refer to the APS Code of Ethics, emphasizing respect for rights and dignity, fairness without discrimination, and providing linguistically and culturally appropriate services.\"},{\"question\":\"What data sources are included in the psychological assessment process?\",\"answer\":\"Psychological assessment may draw on multiple sources such as psychological tests, observation, structured interviews, questionnaires, rating scales, checklists, and other data collection methods.\"},{\"question\":\"How should psychologists handle informed consent for psychological services?\",\"answer\":\"Psychologists must fully inform clients about intended psychological services unless an agreed exception applies or consent cannot reasonably be obtained, and they should provide information in plain language.\"}]","Guidelines for Psychological Assessment and the Use of Psychological Tests | PDF",1790766226,28]
