The Greek community has made an enormous contribution to the social, economic, and political fabric of Top End life. \nGreek immigration to the Top End began at the start of World War I and by the end of the war, four years later, the number of Greek people calling the Top End home had grown rapidly. Greek immigration continued during the 20th century, aided by incentives such as the Commonwealth Government’smass migration scheme, and by the 1970s Greek people and culture were firmly entrenched here. \nCharles Darwin University’s Greek Language and Culture program is a wonderful example of language and culture preservation and one of the remarkable success stories of our university. \nOur internationally recognised Greek Language and Culture study program is widely regarded as Australia’s best, and the support provided by the Territory’s Greek community, and other members of the Darwin community, is pivotal to the program’s success. Thank you. \nOur focus now is on growing this program, and I hope that we can depend on your ongoing support, and greatly welcome new supporters as it cannot be achieved without your goodwill and collaboration. \nThe generosity of our Guardians has been instrumental in securing and making Greek Language and Culture at CDU a program of international significance. The Guardians are an esteemed \nProfessor Scott Bowman with Greek Guardians’ patron Angelica Poulos. \npart of the newly launched Friends of CDU, a major contributing factor to the success of the program, and I sincerely thank all supporters for your dedication. \nI congratulate everyone involved in the program, and I look forward to celebrating 20 years of success with you. \nProfessor Scott Bowman AO \nVice-Chancellor and President \nBuilding Australia’s Best Hellenic Greek Studies Program \nEstablished in 2012, the Guardians of Greek Language and Culture (more commonly known as The Greek Guardians) has worked together with the Northern Territory’s Greek and wider community to secure the University’s Greek Language and Culture Program. \n2 \nWith an internationally recognised Greek language and culture study program incorporating an innovative research agenda focusing on Greek communities across the globe, CDU delivers Australia's most respected in-country study program. The program is accredited by the Greek Government as the Examination Centre for the Certificate of Attainment in Greek Language. \nOngoing Greek language and culture lectures are delivered both face-to-face and online at CDU’s Casuarina Campus, and CDU plays host to International Conferences on Hellenic Diaspora, regular Greek poetry symposia, visiting academics and public lectures. \nOngoing support from the Greek Guardians will see CDU continue to deliver an outstanding Hellenic and Greek Language and Culture curriculum in undergraduate and post graduate studies, whilst supporting new initiatives such as scholarships and bursaries for students, visiting academic programs, ongoing research, research fellowships, and cultural exchanges. \nOur Achievements \nThe achievements made by CDU’s Greek Language and Culture Program are extensive, and include: \nHELLENIC AND GREEK LANGUAGE AND CULTURE STUDIES PROGRAM \n• Delivering ongoing Greek language and culture lectures both combining face-to-face instruction at Casuarina campus and online, regular Greek poetry symposia and public lectures at the CDU","cbCaijFcFILXzvO3","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaijFcFILXzvO3","pdf",4760496,32,"English","# Welcome from Professor Scott Bowman AO\n## Commitment to program growth and community support\n# Building Australia’s Best Hellenic Greek Studies Program\n## Program scope, accreditation, and delivery modes\n# Our Achievements\n## Hellenic and Greek language and culture studies program\n## Visiting academic open lectures and symposiums\n## Accreditation by the Greek Government as an examination centre\n## Memorandums of understanding signed with partner universities","[{\"question\":\"What is the Greek Guardians initiative described in the document?\",\"answer\":\"It is a collaborative effort established in 2012 to work with the Northern Territory’s Greek and wider community to secure CDU’s Greek Language and Culture program.\"},{\"question\":\"How does CDU deliver the Greek Language and Culture program?\",\"answer\":\"The program provides ongoing Greek language and culture lectures through face-to-face instruction at the Casuarina campus and online delivery, supported by poetry symposia and public lectures across CDU Darwin campuses.\"},{\"question\":\"What accreditation and examination role does the program have?\",\"answer\":\"The program is accredited by the Greek Government as the Northern Territory examination centre for the Certificate of Attainment in Greek Language and conducts examinations annually under this accreditation.\"}]","Guardians of Greek Language and Culture - Celebrating 20 Years of Greek Language and Culture at CDU | PDF",81]
