On the table in his room were a lot of books. Outside the window there were beautiful birds flying and far away there was a mosque. You could also see the mosque goers from the window.  \n“Kokko! Hurry, wake up Kokko!” His grandfather woke him up.  \n*Kokko is the Dhivehi word for ”little brother.”  \nAfter attending the prayer, Kokko and his grandfather walked out of the mosque and stopped. Then his grandfather started handing out money to random people walking on the street, and those coming out of the mosque.  \nSeeing this Kokko thought, “Why is Grandpa handing out money to these people?”  \nKokko and Grandpa started walking home. On the way, Grandpa stopped to visit many different houses. Red houses, blue houses and yellow houses. At every one of these houses, Grandpa gave them a small gift. To some houses he gave rice. To other houses, flour. Kokko wondered if the bag Grandpa carried could really hold so many gifts.“Grandpa! Why are you giving food to houses?” Kokko asked. But Grandpa only  \nsmiled, as if he would tell him later.  \nWhen fishermen returned back from their trips, Kokko and Grandpa were seated at the beach.\u003Cspan style=”color: rgb(0,0,0); font-size: 16px;”> \u003C/span>  \n“Kokko! Do you know why we have to do charity?” Grandpa asked him.  \n“I do not know!”  \n“Charity is something you, me, and anyone else can give. It is something that helps feed the hungry. You should also help people  \nwhen you grow up, Kokko . You should become someone who helps people who are in need!”  \n“Why do you give charity and help people, Grandpa?” Kokko asked, thoughtfully.  \n“Kokko!” Grandpa said, smiling at him. “Charity promotes equality amongst everyone. Helping people creates a sense of stability and fosters togetherness within a community. It reduces arrogance. Even if I am old and feeble, I still want to help people. It gives mea great deal of happiness and calm.”  \nKokko listened intently as the sun lowered in the sky.  \nKokko also now wants to help people like Grandpa. But what can he do to help? He doesn’t have any money. Or rice.  \n“I want to help people like Grandpa does. Dad! What can I do to help people?” Kokko asked his father.  \n“How about donating used books to the school, Kokko?” his father suggested smiling, pointing to the books on the table.
