For each set of grade boundaries, the maximum number of available marks is also shown.
International GCSE (9-1) qualifications are linear, and only the maximum mark and grade
boundaries for the overall qualification are available in this document. These are given in raw marks. Definition of terms
A grade boundary is the minimum mark at which a numbered grade (between 9 and 1) can be achieved. For example, if the grade boundary for a Grade 6 is 70 marks, then 70 is the minimum mark at which a Grade 6 can be achieved. A mark of 69 would therefore be a Grade 5.
For linear qualifications, all assessments must be taken in the same exam session.
You can find out more about International GCSE (9-1) here: [http://qualifications.pearson.com/en/support/support-topics/results-certification/understanding](http://qualifications.pearson.com/en/support/support-topics/results-certification/understanding)marks-and-grades.html

| Accounting | | Max Mark | a* | a | b | c | d | e | f | g | | u |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Overall grade boundaries | | Max Mark | 9 | 8 | 7 | 6 | 5 | 4 | 3 | 2 | 1 | U |
| 4AC1 Accounting
Paper(s) 01 02 | Subject | 150 | 122 | 109 | 97 | 87 | 77 | 68 | 49 | 30 | 12 | 0 |
| Arabic (First Language)
Overall grade boundaries | | Max Mark
Max Mark | a* 9 | a 8 | b 7 | c 6 | d 5 | e 4 | f 3 | g 2 | 1 | u
U |
| 4AA1 Arabic (First Language)
Paper(s) 01 02 | Subject | 125 | 89 | 83 | 77 | 69 | 62 | 55 | 42 | 29 | 16 | 0 |
| Bangla
Overall grade boundaries | | Max Mark
Max Mark | a* 9 | a 8 | b 7 | c 6 | d 5 | e 4 | f 3 | g 2 | 1 | u
U |
| 4BA0 Bangla
Paper(s) 01 | Subject | 100 | 82 | 77 | 72 | 61 | 51 | 41 | 31 | 21 | 12 | 0 |
| Biology
Overall grade boundaries | | Max Mark
Max Mark | a* 9 | a 8 | b 7 | c 6 | d 5 | e 4 | f 3 | g 2 | 1 | u
U |
| 4BI1 Biology
Paper(s) 1B 2B | Subject | 180 | 141 | 126 | 111 | 96 | 82 | 68 | 56 | 44 | 33 | 0 |
| Business
Overall grade boundaries | | Max Mark
Max Mark | a* 9 | a 8 | b 7 | c 6 | d 5 | e 4 | f 3 | g 2 | 1 | u
U |
| 4BS1 Business
Paper(s) 01 02 | Subject | 160 | 132 | 121 | 110 | 95 | 80 | 65 | 55 | 45 | 36 | 0 |
| 4BS1 Business
Paper(s) 1C 2C | Subject | 160 | 132 | 121 | 110 | 95 | 80 | 65 | 55 | 45 | 36 | 0 |
| Chemistry
Overall grade boundaries | | Max Mark
Max Mark | a* 9 | a 8 | b 7 | c 6 | d 5 | e 4 | f 3 | g 2 | 1 | u
U |
| 4CH1 Chemistry
Paper(s) 1C 2C | Subject | 180 | 155 | 135 | 115 | 100 | 85 | 71 | 55 | 40 | 25 | 0 |
| Chinese
Overall grade boundaries | | Max Mark
Max Mark | a* 9 | a 8 | b 7 | c 6 | d 5 | e 4 | f 3 | g 2 | 1 | u
U |
| 4CN1 Chinese
Paper(s) 01 02 03 | Subject | 160 | 145 | 132 | 119 | 110 | 101 | 93 | 73 | 53 | 33 | 0 |
| Commerce
Overall grade boundaries | | Max Mark
Max Mark | a* 9 | a 8 | b 7 | c 6 | d 5 | e 4 | f 3 | g 2 | 1 | u
U |
| 4CM1 Commerce
Paper(s) 01 02 | Subject | 160 | 129 | 120 | 111 | 102 | 93 | 85 | 75 | 65 | 56 | 0 |
| Economics
Overall grade boundaries | | Max Mark
Max Mark | a* 9 | a 8 | b 7 | c 6 | d 5 | e 4 | f 3 | g 2 | 1 | u
U |
| 4EC1 Economics
Paper(s) 01 02 | Subject | 160 | 112 | 102 | 93 | 86 | 79 | 72 | 61 | 50 | 40 | 0 |
| 4EC1 Economics
Paper(s) 1C 2C | Subject | 160 | 112 | 102 | 93 | 86 | 79 | 72 | 61 | 50 | 40 | 0 |
| English as a Second Language
Overall grade boundaries | | Max Mark
Max Mark | a* 9 | a 8 | b 7 | c 6 | d 5 | e 4 | f 3 | g 2 | 1 | u
U |
| 4ES1 English as a Second Language Paper(s) 01 02 | Subject | 150 | 140 | 134 | 128 | 120 | 112 | 105 | 92 | 79 | 67 | 0 |
| 4ES1 English as a Second Language Paper(s) 03 | Subject | 40 | 37 | 32 | 28 | 24 | 20 | 17 | 13 | 10 | 7 | 0 |

| ","cbCailenF59c9EUu","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCailenF59c9EUu","pdf",361888,"English","# Understanding grade boundaries
## Definition of grade boundaries
## Linear qualification mark requirements
# Grade boundary tables by subject and papers","[{"question":"What does a “grade boundary” mean in this document?","answer":"A grade boundary is the minimum raw mark at which a numbered grade (9 to 1) can be achieved.
