learning about different types ofjobs to prepare for your school's job week.Yourteacher has asked each person to learn about a \ndifferent job.You think being an astronaut must be aninteresting job so you decide to learn about what it islike to be an astronaut. You have found two sourcesabout being an astronaut. \nAfter you have looked at these sources, you willanswer some questions about available to youin Part 1 and Part 2 of the performance task. \n## Part 1\n\n### Sources for Performance Task:\n\nSource\\#1 \nYou have found a source describing the type oftraining that astronauts receive in order to do theirjob. \n### What is an Astronaut?\n\nby Talia Yee \nHave you ever thought about what it is like in space?Astronauts are people who go out into space.Being anastronaut is an exciting job.Astronauts who see Earthfrom space say that it is round, like a ball. While inspace, astronauts can look down and see clouds, land, and water. Some can even see the moon up close.Astronauts get the chance to see more stars than youor I have ever seen. \nBeing an astronaut may be exciting, but it is not aneasy job.A person who wants to be an astronaut hasto study for years. There are many things an astronautmust learn to do before going into space for the firsttime. \nGrade 3 ELA PT \nA weightless astronaut in space \nAstronauts train for hundreds of hours.During theirtraining, they learn about space. This type of trainingmight include studying the stars and Earth. It isimportant that astronauts study space so that theyunderstand what they will work with while in space. The astronauts also learn medical skills like basic firstaid during their training. This training allows them totreat simple medical problems so that they can keepeach other healthy and safe in space. \nGrade 3ELA PT \nIn their training, astronauts also learn what life is likeon the International Space Station (ISS).The ISS is alarge spacecraft that orbits the earth. The ISS is aplace where astronauts do science experiments whilein space.Astronauts also learn to eat, exercise, and doexperiments while floating in the air. They alsopractice riding in special vehicles that are just forspace. These vehicles bring supplies like food and fuelto the ISS.The vehicles are about the size of a pick-uptruck with 12 wheels.Astronauts even take classes inscuba diving!'When they're walking underwater intheir scuba suits, astronauts feel the same as theywould feel walking in space.Lastly, astronauts mustalso learn how to work together as a team. This isimportant because as many as eight astronauts maybe in one spacecraft. These astronauts have to learnhow to live and work together in ","cbCaidMYfjpIA0CT","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaidMYfjpIA0CT","pdf",630534,14,"English","# Astronauts
