Likewise, the purpose of this course is to further expose the undergraduate student toprinciples of logic and reasoning that are used in the legal community, including logic and legalreasoning skills relevant to the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) and to therigors ofthe legalprofession. \n# I. PREREQUISITE\n\nFor information regarding prerequisites for this course, please refer to the AcademicCourse Catalog . \n# II. REQUIRED RESOURCE PURCHASE\n\nClick on the following link to view the required resource(s) forthe term in which you areregistered: http://bookstore.mbsdirect.net/liberty.htm \n# III. ADDITIONAL MATERIALS FOR LEARNING\n\nA. Computer with basic audio/video output equipment \nB. Internet access (broadband recommended) \nC. Blackboard recommended browsers \nD. Microsoft Word \n# IV. MEASURABLE LEARNING OUTCOMES\n\nUpon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: \nA. Examine formal techniques of evaluating logic. \nB. Apply rules and techniques in order to understand legal reasoning. \nC. Formulate reasoned and cogent legal arguments. \nD. Evaluate complex fact patterns in order to efficiently apply the information torelevant issues. \nE. Apply techniques necessary to address the logical reasoning, analytical reasoning, and reading comprehension questions the student will face onthe LSAT exam. \nF. Articulate biblical standards of logic and reasoning in theory and practice. \n# V. COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND ASSIGNMENTS\n\nA. Textbook readings and lecture presentations \nB. Course Requirements Checklist \nAfter reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student willcomplete the related checklist found in Module/Week 1. \n# C. Discussion Board Forums (7)\n\nDiscussion boards are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student isrequired to provide a thread in response to the provided prompt for each forum. Each thread must be 400–500 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 classmates’threads. Each reply must be 200–250 words. \n# D. LSAT Exam Research Paper\n\nThe student will locate articles that address the research performed by Berkley onhow studying forthe LSAT exam can alter brain structure. Then, based upon allthe reading and reviewing for this course, the student will write a 5– 8-page paperanalyzing howthe LSAT exam tests logic and legal reasoning skills, includingdeductive and inductive reasoning and understanding of fallacies. At least 3quality sources must be used to support the student’s position. Also, atthe end ofthe paper the student must include a paragraph that states the date the student willtakethe LSAT and alist ofactions tobe taken prior to that date in order toprepare forthe LSAT exam. The research paper must follow current Bluebookformatting. \n# E. LSAT Exams (7)\n\nThe student will complete 7 LSAT practice exams. The exams will cover logicgames, logical reasoning, and reading comprehension. Each exam will take 2hours and 30 minutes to complete. \n# VI. COURSE GRADING AND POLICIES\n\n## A.
