A young man named Daniel was among the captives.  \nKing Nebuchadnezzar commanded that some of the young captive men from the best families be trained for service in the king’s palace.  \nThey selected only fine, healthy young men who were gifted with intelligence, knowledge, wisdom and discernment.  \nDaniel and three of his friends were among those selected for this training.  \nBut they did not want not to defile themselves by eating the royal food and wine.
