General IMDS information \n1.1 GMW3059 \nGeneral Motors’Restricted and Reportable Substances specification is updated twice a year to reflect changes in substance regulations worldwide. Supplier should purchase GMW3059 which also includes GM restricted substance list called CG4110 via Accuris (formerly IHS) . Suppliers must fulfill the requirements listed in GMW3059 . Please check if you have the latest version of GMW3059 which is available at Global Engineering Documents Website GMW Standards General Motors Worldwide Standards \nNothing in these GM IMDS instructions is to be construed to override or negate the requirements found in GMW3059 and CG4110 . Should these GM IMDS instructions conflict with GMW3059 or CG4110 in any way, the requirements in GMW3059 and CG4110 shall be controlled. \n1.2 IMDS- International Material Data System – General Information \nThe IMDS system has been designed jointly by a German carmaker’s consortium and EDS (now DXC), a leader in Information Technology systems. \nTo ensure regulatory compliance with the ELV (End of Life Vehicle)-Directive and any applicable substance regulations over time, it is necessary to document the material and substance composition of the entire vehicle. \nIMDS allows the OEM’s and the Suppliers to collect and manage information regarding the material and substance composition of all components. IMDS provides OEM’s necessary information to document the product compliance to ELV, REACH (the European regulation, Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) and other regional requirements. \n1.2.1 How to Obtain Access \nSuppliers must be registered in the IMDS system to use it. Online IMDS registration is available via the IMDS Public Pages at the IMDS website ([www.mdsystem.com](www.mdsystem.com)) . \nOpen [page:](page: www.mdsystem.com)[ ](page: www.mdsystem.com)[www.mdsystem.com](page: www.mdsystem.com) \n[Click on: New at IMDS?](Click on: New at IMDS?) \nClick on: Company Registration \nClick on: \u003COnline Registration> \nClick on: Register your company \n1.2.2 Help Desks: \nThe IMDS help desks are available to answer questions concerning the functionality of the IMDS. \nOpen [page:](page: www.md","cbCaipiuJCSMiXSE","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaipiuJCSMiXSE","pdf",955863,31,"English","# General IMDS information\n## GMW3059\n## IMDS- International Material Data System – General Information\n## When to Submit MDS\n## Where to Submit MDS\n## GM “Catalogue Parts”\n## How to Submit MDS\n## Guidelines for Preventing Common Errors and Rejections\n## Active contact in IMDS\n## Rejection reason / Reason for denial\n## IMDS approval update in SQMS\n## “Material Sequencer Parts”MSA Waiver\n## GM Customer Care and Aftersales\n# GM Mandatory Information\n## GMW3059 Confirmation\n## Supplier Code\n## Instructions for Production Parts\n## Recommendation IMDS 019 modules for E/E components\n## Instructions for Productive Materials/ Chemical Products\n# IMDS Creation Process\n## Step by step procedure for creating material in the IMDS system\n## Step by step procedure for creating a component in the IMDS system\n## Less Finish Parts\n# Recycled Content Reporting\n# Material Marking (or Part Marking)\n# Acronyms, Abbreviations and Symbols\n# Contacts\n# Appendix 1 : Supplier IMDS Entry Instructions for New GM Material Certifications\n# Revision History","[{\"question\":\"What is the purpose of IMDS in GM compliance processes?\",\"answer\":\"IMDS is used to document the material and substance composition of the entire vehicle so GM and suppliers can manage information for compliance with ELV, REACH, and other regional requirements.\"},{\"question\":\"When should suppliers submit MDS for GM vehicle and aftermarket components?\",\"answer\":\"Suppliers should submit IMDS at least two weeks prior to non-saleable PPAP, to allow GM review and correction cycles.
