This will determine how you organize your math stations. \nAs a 4th grade teacher, I used the following: \n- Whole Number Operations \n- Fractions/Decimals \n- Measurement \n- Geometry \nI included a 5th station called ‘Math Mania’ that included a mix of other important material we learned throughout the year like place value, perimeter/area, and data analysis. \nEach station contained: \n• STAAR review activities provided by the district – I had the students complete this first. They were allowed to work with a partner of course, but it needed to be turned in. I let them write with highlighters, so their work glowed! (Yellow highlighters are recommended. They glow the best!) \n• A review game provided by ‘Teachers Pay Teachers’, or anything created by you and your team. You can be as flexible and creative as you want with this! \n• Extra work just in case. I created an online quiz through IXL for each station that the students could access once they finished the other activities. I’m sure this could be done on any platform your school uses. You could even create a Kahoot for them to play together! (Note: It was very rare that any of the students got to the quizzes. However, they are nice to have as back-up!) \nWhat you’ll need: \nBlack Out Your Classroom: \n• Black Butcher Paper \n• Doorway Streamers \nFirst, you’ll want to cover up all your windows. The less light, the better the glow effect. For safety purposes, I did not cover the windows on the door. Instead, I cut a long piece of black butcher paper (the length of the doorway) into 1-inch strips, creating streamers and hung it from the top of the door. To add more fun & color to your doorway, you can opt to hang tinsel streamers along with the butcher paper strips. \nThe Glow Effect: \n• UV Lights: 4 pack \n• Neon Decorations \nUV lights are essential for the glow effect. The number of lights you’ll need depends on the size of your classroom. I personally used 4, and it worked great! I also decorated the room with neon garlands and streamers. Keep in mind that anything neon or white will glow! I told my kids to wear those colors on the day of our big STAAR review. \nStation Signs: \n• White poster board \n• Neon Paint \nI made a sign for each station out of white poster board and neon paint. (I cut my poster boardsin half. They were the perfect size!) \nSome Extra Added Fun: \n• Mini Disco Ball – They LOVED this. It’s totally optional, but it has many color and motion settings that you can experiment with. \n• Neon Tape – I used neon tape to create tic-tac-toe boards on the desks at one of the \nstations that involved a word problem solving game. I also used the tape to create different types of angles on the wall at the geometry station for decoration. \n• Glow Sticks – The kids loved wearing these throughout the day as necklaces and bracelets.","cbCaie4xEjCt84bN","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaie4xEjCt84bN","pdf",339409,"English","# What TEKS are tested and how to organize math stations\n# Station structure and review games\n# Extra backup practice options\n# What you’ll need for the glow setup\n# Classroom blackout and glow effect\n# Station signs and optional fun activities","[{\"question\":\"How does the guide suggest organizing STAAR math stations for grade 4?\",\"answer\":\"It groups station content around key tested areas: whole number operations, fractions/decimals, measurement, and geometry, and adds a fifth station called “Math Mania” with mixed skills like place value, perimeter/area, and data analysis.\"},{\"question\":\"What activities are included in each station?\",\"answer\":\"Each station starts with district-provided STAAR review activities, followed by a review game from Teachers Pay Teachers or a teacher-created version, and then optional extra work as a backup.\"},{\"question\":\"How is the glow effect created for the review day?\",\"answer\":\"The guide recommends covering windows to reduce light, using black butcher paper and doorway streamers, and adding UV lights plus neon decorations so items in neon/white glow under UV.\"}]","Glow Day STAAR Review - How to Guide | PDF"]
