Add to that the sales ofT-shirts at $25 each, 45 gallons of spiked orange crushes, and over 60 gallons of ice cream, and the event was “a huge success,”he said.  \n“I did not get one complaint the whole day,” said Hudgins.  \n“Even with the heat, people were smiling, laughing, and having a good time. There were no fights and no drunks. Everybody I talked to said they made new friends.”  \nHudginssaid a drone operator did a flyover and counted at least 200 boats anchored in the East River for the event. Most were pleasure craft or  \nSEE BOAT DOCKING, PAGE 16A  \nIslander Regatta starts at 8 a.m.  \nMore than 100 paddlers (117 have signed up at presstime) are expected to take part Saturday morning in a nine-mile circumnavigation of Gwynn’s Island.  \nThe Islander Regatta is a  \nSEE REGATTA, PAGE 10A  \nEarly deadlines next week  \nWith the July 4 holiday coming up, the deadlines for next week’s paper will be advanced somewhat in order to ensure that the paper is printed and distributed to the USPS no later than noon on Wednesday, July 3.  \nClassified advertising and church news deadlines will remain at noon on Tuesday. Thank you.  \nGwynn’s Island Days harkens back to past  \nBY SHERRY HAMILTON  \nGwynn’s Island Days, this year’s name for the Gwynn’s Island Festival, will be held from 4:30-7 p.m. Friday [and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m](and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m). Saturday at the Gwynn’s Island Civic Center, 1996 Old Ferry Road, Gwynn.  \nAs the temporary name change suggests, the festival will harken back to the 1950s and ’60s, during the earliest days of the 76-yearold event, first held in 1948. It will even have a midway, a throwback to the old-style carnivals that predated today’s theme parks.  \nFestival chair Jan Bassett said the fun will kick off with the traditional Friday evening chicken dinner.
