They sinned by worshiping idols and false gods. So for seven years, the Lord let their enemies, the Midianites, oppress Israel.  \nJudges 6:1, 10  \nWhenever the Israelites planted crops, the Midianites and other tribes invaded the land. They destroyed the harvest and stole all the livestock.  \nJudges 6:3-4  \nThe Midianites came on many camels. They stayed until there was nothing left for the Israelites to eat.  \nJudges 6:4-5  \nThe Israelites hid in caves and other places in the mountains. The Midianites ruined all their land, and all the people were starving. Finally, the Israelites cried out to the Lord for help.  \nJudges 6:2,6  \nOne day, a man named Gideon was threshing grain in a place unseen by the enemy.
