The exam is based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for this subject. The full list of TEKS is included in this document (it is also available online at the Texas Education Agency website, [http://www.tea.state.tx.us/](http://www.tea.state.tx.us/)). The TEKS outline specific topics covered in the exam as well as more general areas of knowledge and levels of critical thinking. Use the TEKS to focus your study in preparation for the exam. \nThe examination will take place under supervision, and the recommended time limit is three hours. You may not use any notes or books. A percentage score from the examination will be reported to the official at your school. \nIn preparation for the examination, review the TEKS for this subject. All TEKS are assessed. A list of review topics is included in this document to focus your studies. It is important to prepare adequately. Since questions are not taken from any one source, you can prepare by reviewing any of the state–adopted textbooks that are used at your school. The textbook used with our GEOM 1A course is: \nLarson, Ron; Boswell, Laurie, et al (2016) . Geometry, Big Ideas Math. Erie, PA. \nBig Ideas Learning ISBN 13: 978–1–60840–815–3. \nThe practice exam included in this document will give you a model of the types of questions that will be asked on your examination. It is not a duplicate of the actual examination. It is provided to illustrate the format of the exam, not to serve as a complete review sheet. \nGood luck on your examination! \nEXAM OBJECTIVES \nBe sure you are able to perform each of the tasks in the following skill areas to prepare yourself for the Geometry 1A CBE. The actual exam will contain the formula chart included with this practice exam. When you take your examination, be sure to show all of your work and do not leave any questions blank. \nGeometry Basics \n􀁸 Name points, lines, segments, rays, and planes \n􀁸 Sketch intersections of lines, planes, rays, and segments \n􀁸 Use the Ruler and Segment Addition Postulates \n􀁸 Copy and compare segments for congruence \n􀁸 Use the distance formula \n􀁸 Find segment lengths using midpoints and segment bisectors \n􀁸 Partition a segment on a number line \n􀁸 Find the midpoint of a segment on the coordinate plane \n􀁸 Find perimeters of, areas of, and classify polygons in and out ofthe coordinate plane \n􀁸 Measure, classify, and name angles \n􀁸 Identify congruent angles \n􀁸 Bisect angles, and use the Angle Addition Postulate to find angle measures \n􀁸 Identify complementary, supplementary, vertical and linear pairs of angles \nReasoning and Proof \n􀁸 Write conditional and bi-conditional statements \n􀁸 Make truth tables \n􀁸 Use inductive and deductive reasoning \n􀁸 Sketch, interpret, and identify postulates using diagrams \n􀁸 Use the distributive and equality properties of operations to justify steps in equations and proofs \n􀁸 Use properties involving segment lengths and angle measures \n􀁸 Write two–column proofs \n􀁸 Name and prove properties of congruence \n􀁸 Write flow–chart, and paragraph proofs to prove geometric relationships \nParallel and Perpendicular Lines \n􀁸 Identify lines, planes, parallel and perpendicular lines, and pairs of angles cut by a transversal \n􀁸 Use properties and theorems about parallel lines \n􀁸 Construct and prove theorems about parallel lines \n􀁸 Use converses for theorems of parallel lines \n􀁸 Use transitivity of parallel lines \n􀁸 Find the distance from a point to a line \n􀁸 Construct and prove theorems about perpendicular lines \n􀁸 Find and use slopes of lines","cbCailjVeKV0HrKd","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCailjVeKV0HrKd","pdf",472074,16,"English","# What to Bring\n# About the Exam\n# Exam Objectives\n## Geometry Basics\n## Reasoning and Proof\n## Parallel and Perpendicular Lines\n## Transformations\n## Congruent Triangles\n## Special Segments and Relationships within Triangles\n## Polygons","[{\"question\":\"What materials should students bring for the GEOM 1A Credit by Examination?\",\"answer\":\"Bring several sharpened no. 2 pencils, a compass, a straightedge ruler, and a graphing calculator.\"},{\"question\":\"How is the GEOM 1A exam structured and what are the rules during testing?\",\"answer\":\"The exam consists of 21 items, takes place under supervision, and has a recommended time limit of three hours.
