Fieldwork supports real-world learning and students build knowledge and subject skills via data interpretation, diagram work, and synoptic assessment.","|
CURRICULUM MAP-Geography |
| --- |
| Intent:
In Geography we hope to embed a sense of ‘awe and wonder’ of the world around us, to create a desire to explore the earth and to‘think geographically’ about our changing world. Geography aims to equip our students with the skills and knowledge they need to be able to research and ask their own questions about the world in which we live, through an enquiry approach to topics.
In this subject, students will be introduced to a broad range of themes and issues; which we hope will enthuse them to explore, on their own, the systems, landscapes, peoples and processes of the planet and to understand their place and role in the world of the future. Students will learn about the complex relationships between humans and nature across the globe, to be able to understand the big picture on major issues, but also examine in detail local issues. Fieldwork is recognised as a vital part of the teaching of geography at all levels as there is no substitute for ‘real world learning’. At RMGS Geography we want all of our students, whether they chose to continue this subject into further study or not, to become active global citizens and not just passive learners. We hope that all students will leave RMGS with a desire to see the world and experience as many of the amazing aspects of our planet, its peoples and cultures as they can. |

Key Stage 3

| YEAR 7 | My Geography Map Skills | Urban change
Local to global Rainham | Hydrology (Rivers) | Demography (Population) | Meteorology and Climatology
(Weather and climate) | Asia China and India |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Key Knowledge | What is Geography?
