MURRY \nWinter has surely proved to be here now! We used our first district calamity day of the school year. I hope your students and families were able to enjoy this first substantial snow and stay warm! These very chilly temperatures have caused the students to have several days of indoor recess. Some students enjoy the change of indoor recess as the teachers get out special activities and games that are not normally used in the school day. \nUpcoming State and District Testing: \nWe are coming into the months where 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade students will be taking state required tests. \nSecond graders will take the CogAT tests the week of January 31 and the IOWA tests the week of February 28. These tests are part of the gifted identification and LEAP servicing process . The tests are administered in short segments during the mornings of the assigned weeks. \nThird and fourth graders will be taking the ELA and Math AIR assessments in April. These tests are state required and the results are used for school report cards and district educational planning purposes. \nWe want all of our students to give their best efforts on these assessments but not feel extra anxiety over the assessments. The data is not used for any classroom grades but only to help teachers plan for instruction. It’s best that students are at school on these test days, so please try to plan any appointments or absences around test dates and times. Having students make up tests later is not providing the students with the best educational experience , as when they are with their teachers in their normal environment. \nThank you MAPS and Volunteers: \nMAPS has provided some great social and educational opportunities for our students already since returning from winter break. Today and yesterday, our students got to experience hands-on science activities provided by Imagination Station. Thank you to the parents who came in to help with the activities, too! Be sure to ask your child about their visit and what they learned. \nLast weekend MAPS hosted a bowling event for our male students and a female role model in their life. All of the shared pictures showed that it was a fun and successful event. Again, thank you to the volunteers that are making these events happen! \nThe next MAPS meeting is Thursday, February 10 at 7:00 pm in the media center, or you can join the meeting virtually. There are many ways you can get involved with MAPS. Please join the meeting, follow their Facebook page, and read their newsle","cbCaiklc8uR6FyRh","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiklc8uR6FyRh","pdf",450535,"English","# Upcoming Dates\n## January\n## February\n## March\n## April\n# From the Desk of Mrs. Murry\n## Winter and indoor recess\n## Upcoming state and district testing\n## Thank you MAPS and volunteers\n# MAPS and next meeting\n# Counselor’s Corner\n## Fourth Grade\n## First Grade","[{\"question\":\"What testing dates are coming up for grades 2–4?\",\"answer\":\"Second graders will take CogAT the week of January 31 and IOWA the week of February 28.
