The test gauges understanding of the basic principles in each. To do well, students must be able to read passages, cartoons, graphs, and charts. \nThe Science test focuses on three major domains: life science, physical science, and earth and space science. Answering the questions requires a combination of excellent reading skills, specific knowledge, and the ability to interpret scientific data. \nFinally, there's the Mathematical Reasoning test. There are algebraic problem solving, and quantitative problem solving questions, utilizing multiple choice, drag-and-drop, hot spot, and fill-in-the-blank types. An on-screen calculator is available when a calculator is allowed, or you may use a handheld TI-30XS Multiview Scientific Calculator. The test center will not provide the calculator for your use during the test. You will also be given a page of math formulas to use during the test, and you will record some of your answers on either standard or coordinate plane grids. \n\n| Reasoning Through Language Arts | |\n| --- | --- |\n| Section | Time (total of 150, including break) |\n| All Content | 35 minutes |\n| Extended Response | 45 minutes |\n| All Content | 60 minutes |\n| Social Studies | |\n| Section | Time (total of 90) |\n| All Content | 65 minutes |\n| Extended Response | 25 minutes |\n| Science | |\n| All Content | 90 minutes |\n| Mathematics | |\n| Section | Time (total of 115) |\n| Five test questions without calculator | not timed |\n| 41 test questions with calculator | not timed |\n\n* Adapted from [https://www.petersons.com/college-search/ged-test-structure-content.aspx](https://www.petersons.com/college-search/ged-test-structure-content.aspx) \nIntake \n• Student takes TABE \n• Student is put on waiting list \n• Student's levels for math and reading are noted \nAdmittance Program \nto \n• Student signs learning and behavior contract \n• Student takes informal learning assessments \n• Student is matched with tutors \nPassing the GED (One section ata time) \n• Student works on subjects and skills at his/her level \n• Student takes paper practice test \n• Student takes computerized practice test (voucher) \n• Student takes test at Durham Tech \n(voucher) \nGED Resources \n􀁸 Kaplan GED Test book series: Books are available by subject or as an overview of all content areas.
