What does AO2 assess in general? \n2. What percentage of marks for an award are allocated to AO2? \n3. How could you differentiate an AO2 question from an AO1 question? \n4. Which of the following would assess AO2 , and why? \n• Plotting a bar chart from a table of data \n• Applying a formula to do a calculation \n• Carrying out a life cycle assessment \n• Describing the pattern on a graph \n• Evaluating a student’s conclusion from experimental results \n• Using a Punnett square diagram \n• Stating the word equation for combustion of methane \n• Using the particle model to explain changes of state \n• Identifying errors in a practical method \n• Using a key to identify organisms in a stream \nActivity 2 : Bringing unfamiliar contexts into your scheme of work \nUse the resource in Activity 3 of the AQA Focus on Success: AO2 pack for this group activity. \nIn subject groups: \n• Choose a topic from your own scheme of work that you feel would benefit students by introducing an unfamiliar context. \n• Discuss where you could use examples of contexts to use in the lessons in that topic where the content could be used in an everyday context. \n• Are there opportunities for introducing the opportunity to model answering questions in unfamiliar context? \nHealth checks \nRate the area of development statements according to your confidence where 0 is not confident at all and 5 is very confident. \nBefore the meeting \n\n| Objective | Rating | Reasons/notes |\n| --- | --- | --- |\n| Objective 1: I understand the criteria for assessing AO2 | | |\n| Objective 2: I understand the ways in which AO2 can be assessed | | |\n| Objective 3: I know how to prepare students to answer questions in unfamiliar contexts | | |\n| Objective 4: I know how to use exam questions to model recognising the science behind a context to support student understanding | | |\n\nAfter the meeting \n\n| Objective | Rating | Reasons/notes |\n| --- | --- | --- |\n| Objective 1: I understand the criteria for assessing AO2 | | |\n| Objective 2: I understand the ways in which AO2 can be assessed | | |\n| Objective 3: I know how to prepare students to answer questions in unfamiliar contexts | | |\n| Objective 4: I know how to use exam questions to model recognising the science behind a context | | |\n\nPlanning for the future \nQuestions for consideration \n• What areas have you identified","cbCaioqlRzKgFf2T","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaioqlRzKgFf2T","pdf",268424,"English","# About this resource\n# Follow-on pathways\n## Activity 1: How well do you know AO2?\n## Activity 2 : Bringing unfamiliar contexts into your scheme of work\n# Health checks\n# Planning for the future","[{\"question\":\"What is the purpose of this facilitation pack?\",\"answer\":\"It helps educators share what they learned from the virtual community event and deliver their own CPD session using linked activities and resources.\"},{\"question\":\"What resources are included for follow-on CPD delivery?\",\"answer\":\"A presenter PowerPoint with notes, follow-on pathways for development of event topics, and a pre- and post-meeting confidence check questionnaire.\"},{\"question\":\"How does the pack assess confidence before and after the meeting?\",\"answer\":\"It uses a 0–5 confidence rating across objectives focused on understanding AO2 criteria, assessing AO2, and preparing students for unfamiliar contexts.\"}]","GCSE SCIENCE Virtual communities Facilitation pack - Published: Autumn 2022 | PDF",1792468458,25]
