It provides route maps and extracted planning content for assessing practical skills, including apparatus and techniques (AT), Working Scientifically (WS), and subject-specific scientific language. It also outlines how to integrate AO2 requirements, AO3 data sourcing, and maths skills, plus identifies common misconceptions and errors. summary \nGCSE science \nAssessment of practical skills encompasses a number of different elements. \n·Apparatus and techniques(AT)criteria \n·Working Scientifically(WS)criteria \n·Scientific language associated with practical investigations-subject specific language \n·The science behind the practical (linking content in the spec to the practical) \n·Application of the maths skills appropriate to that practical \n·AO2 requirement of scientific techniques and procedures being broader than the Required Practicals \n·Questioning about the Required Practicals so they address the different assessment criteria for each of the AOs \n● Building on progress from KS3 scientific enquiry. \nIt would be very difficult to cover every element in every set of RP lessons. One approach is to focus on just a number of these elements in one RPbut cover all elements eventually over the whole course. This requires some joint planning across the three sciences and deciding where the mostappropriate place is to teach and embed the skills. \nBelow is a modelled approach mapping possible opportunities to cover the first five bullet points above. These are just suggestions as many aspectsof WS could be covered in any practical.Teachers can use this as a starting point and review and amend to suit their own students and teachers. \n## Biology Required Practicals\n\n\n|
