Our qualification must meet these requirements. \nThe qualification outline will provide a guide for the development of the Specification and Sample Assessment Materials (SAMs) . Aspects of the outline may need to be revisited if issues arise during the development process. \nQualification Overview \nThe construct of the GCSE Music qualification is based on the Welsh Government subject specific considerations for the Expressive Arts 1. \nThe qualification will: \n• through the creative process, allow learners to explore, respond to stimuli and create and reflect on their own work while engaging in rich, authentic experiences. \nThe GCSE Music qualification will focus on the following , based on the Welsh Government statements of what matter for Expressive Arts2 : \n• exploring the Expressive Arts is essential to developing artistic skills and knowledge and it enables learners to become curious and creative individuals \n• responding and reflecting , both as artist and audience, is a fundamental part of learning in the Expressive Arts \n• creating combines skills and knowledge, drawing on the senses, inspiration and imagination. \nThe GCSE Music qualification will support the Curriculum for Wales by supporting the principles of progression3 by: \n• encouraging learners to explore, experience, interpret , create and respond to increasingly complex meaning \n• developing an increased sophistication of conceptual learning \n• more sophisticated use of relevant skills and the ability to transfer existing skills and knowledge into new contexts. \n1 [https://hwb.gov.wales/curriculum-for-wales/expressive-arts/designing-your-curriculum/\\#specific](https://hwb.gov.wales/curriculum-for-wales/expressive-arts/designing-your-curriculum/#specific)considerations-for-this-area \n2 [https://hwb.gov.wales/curriculum-for-wales/expressive-arts/statements-of-what-matters/](https://hwb.gov.wales/curriculum-for-wales/expressive-arts/statements-of-what-matters/) \n3 [https://hwb.gov.wales/curriculum-for-wales/expressive-arts/principles-of-progression/](https://hwb.gov.wales/curriculum-for-wales/expressive-arts/principles-of-progression/) \nQualification Structure \n\n| Unit 1: Performing\u003Cbr>Practical assessment 32.5% of qualification\u003Cbr>Marked by centre and moderated by WJEC |\n| --- |\n| Unit 2: Composing\u003Cbr>Practical assessment and reflective log 32.5% of qualification\u003Cbr>Marked by centre and moderated by WJEC |\n| Unit 3: Appraising\u003Cbr>Digital only examination 35% of qualification Marked by WJEC |\n\n• These are the percentages for the four assessment objectives: \n\n| AO1 | Demonstrate and apply knowledge and understanding of a range of music | 20% |\n| --- | --- | --- |\n| AO2 | Develop and apply performance and/or realisation skills | 32.5% |\n| AO3 | Reflect on, analyse and evaluate their own work and the work of others | 17% |\n| AO4 | Create and develop ideas to communicate meaning in compositions | 30.5% |\n\nThis will be a linear qualification. Unit 1 and Unit 2 could be completed any time during the two years and submitted to WJEC in the final year of the course. However, centres should ensure that assessment of both Unit 1 and Unit 2 is completed only when learners have undertaken the necessary teaching and learning and developed the required skills and knowledge. Unit 3 would be completed in the final year of the course. \nUnit Information \nUnit 1-Performing \nThe purpose of this","cbCail2KpvZLyGMZ","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCail2KpvZLyGMZ","pdf",353927,1,7,"English","en",105,"# Introduction\n# Qualification Overview\n# Qualification Structure\n## Units and assessment percentages\n# Assessment Objectives (AO1-AO4)\n# Qualification Delivery model (linear)\n# Unit Information\n## Unit 1: Performing","[{\"question\":\"When is the WJEC GCSE Music qualification first available for teaching?\",\"answer\":\"The qualification is available for first teaching from September 2025.\"},{\"question\":\"What are the three main units in the qualification and their overall assessment shares?\",\"answer\":\"Unit 1 (Performing) is 32.5%, Unit 2 (Composing) is 32.5%, and Unit 3 (Appraising) is 35%.\"},{\"question\":\"How are the assessment objectives (AO1-AO4) weighted in the qualification?\",\"answer\":\"AO1 is 20%, AO2 is 32.5%, AO3 is 17%, and AO4 is 30.5%.\"}]","GCSE Music Qualification Outline - Version 1.0 - Summary of Amendments | PDF",1788604192,18,{"code":4,"msg":31,"data":32},"ok",{"site_id":24,"language":23,"slug":33,"title":13,"keywords":34,"description":14,"schema_data":35,"social_meta":86,"head_meta":88,"extra_data":90,"updated_unix":28},"gcse-music-qualification-outline-version-10-summary-of-amendments","",{"@graph":36,"@context":85},[37,53,68],{"@type":38,"itemListElement":39},"BreadcrumbList",[40,44,48,51],{"item":41,"name":42,"@type":43,"position":20},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":45,"name":46,"@type":43,"position":47},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/","Document",2,{"item":49,"name":12,"@type":43,"position":50},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/exam/",3,{"item":52,"name":13,"@type":43,"position":11},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/gcse-music-qualification-outline-version-10-summary-of-amendments/208461/",{"url":52,"name":13,"@type":54,"author":55,"headline":13,"publisher":57,"fileFormat":60,"inLanguage":23,"description":14,"dateModified":61,"datePublished":62,"encodingFormat":60,"isAccessibleForFree":63,"interactionStatistic":64},"DigitalDocument",{"name":9,"@type":56},"Person",{"url":41,"name":58,"@type":59},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-09-06","2026-09-05",true,{"@type":65,"interactionType":66,"userInteractionCount":20},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":67},"ViewAction",{"@type":69,"mainEntity":70},"FAQPage",[71,77,81],{"name":72,"@type":73,"acceptedAnswer":74},"When is the WJEC GCSE Music qualification first available for teaching?","Question",{"text":75,"@type":76},"The qualification is available for first teaching from September 2025.","Answer",{"name":78,"@type":73,"acceptedAnswer":79},"What are the three main units in the qualification and their overall assessment shares?",{"text":80,"@type":76},"Unit 1 (Performing) is 32.5%, Unit 2 (Composing) is 32.5%, and Unit 3 (Appraising) is 35%.",{"name":82,"@type":73,"acceptedAnswer":83},"How are the assessment objectives (AO1-AO4) weighted in the qualification?",{"text":84,"@type":76},"AO1 is 20%, AO2 is 32.5%, AO3 is 17%, and AO4 is 30.5%.","https://schema.org",{"og:url":52,"og:type":87,"og:title":13,"og:site_name":58,"og:description":14},"article",{"robots":89,"canonical":52},"index,follow",{"doc_id":7,"site_id":24},{"code":4,"msg":5,"data":92},[93,97,101,104,109,114,118,123,128,131,135],{"id":20,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":94,"show_sort_weight":95,"slug":96},"Story & Novel",90,"story-novel",{"id":47,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":98,"show_sort_weight":99,"slug":100},"Literature",80,"literature",{"id":11,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":12,"show_sort_weight":102,"slug":103},70,"exam",{"id":105,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":106,"show_sort_weight":107,"slug":108},5,"Comic",60,"comic",{"id":110,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":111,"show_sort_weight":112,"slug":113},6,"Technology",50,"technology",{"id":21,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":115,"show_sort_weight":116,"slug":117},"Healthcare",40,"healthcare",{"id":119,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":120,"show_sort_weight":121,"slug":122},8,"Research & Report",30,"research-report",{"id":124,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":125,"show_sort_weight":126,"slug":127},9,"Religion & Spirituality",20,"religion-spirituality",{"id":126,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":129,"show_sort_weight":126,"slug":130},"World Cup","world-cup",{"id":132,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":133,"show_sort_weight":132,"slug":134},10,"Lifestyle","lifestyle",{"id":136,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":46,"category_name":137,"show_sort_weight":105,"slug":138},19,"General","general"]
