For many students, graduation brings both relief and uncertainty. After years of structured education, the road ahead can feel unfamiliar – especially when it comes to practical life decisions like career direction, licensure preparation, and financial planning. I’ve found that most students are so focused on surviving school that they haven’t had time to think deeply about what comes next with the realities of daily life as a working professional. \nIn our final one-on-one meetings, I’ve developed a framework to guide students through this pivotal transition \n– from student to pharmacist. It’s a mix of professional insight, real-world advice, and personal encouragement. Whether you are weeks from graduation or reflecting on your next move, here are the key areas every future pharmacist should consider. \nPREPARING FOR LICENSURE: IT’S MORE THAN JUST STUDYING \nGraduation doesn’t automatically make you a pharmacist – passing the licensure exams does. Preparing for the NAPLEX (North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination) and MPJE (Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination) should begin before the ink on your diploma is dry. These are not exams to take lightly. Instead ofcramming post-graduation, I advise students to create a structured study plan well in advance, balancing review materials, practice questions, and timed mock exams. \nReliable resources such as RxPrep, UWorld, or Kaplan are excellent for content mastery and exam strategy. Ask your pharmacy school for resources they recommend as well. For state-specific law exams such as the MPJE, it’s critical to use your state board’s resources, as requirements and interpretations vary. Treat exam preparation as a full-time job – because that’s exactly what it is in the weeks leading up to test day. The sooner you take the exams, the sooner you can begin your career with confidence. \nBUILDING A PROFESSIONAL IDENTITY: RESUME, INTERVIEWS, AND BEYOND \nAs you move into the job market, your experiences need to be translated into a compelling narrative. Updating your CV is more than listing rotations – it’s about capturing the specific value you bring as a pharmacist. Highlight certifications, leadership roles, research, and any projects that demonstrate initiative and problem-solving. \nInterview preparation often gets overlooked, yet it’s essential. I encourage students to clearly articulate their skills through real experiences. Behavioral interview questions are now the norm, and thoughtful answers will set you apart. Just as important is feedback – whether from a mentor, preceptor, or your school’s career services team. A second set of eyes on your resume and many mock interviews with a mentor, pharmacist, or friend can make all the difference. \nFINDING YOUR PATH \nThe pharmacy profession offers an incredible array of career opportunities. \nInformational interviews can be especially eye-opening. Reach out to pharmacists whose careers interest you. Most are more than happy to share insights, and those conversations may reveal opportunities you hadn’t considered – or confirm that a certain setting aligns with your goals and values. If you’re considering a residency, start early, network often, and attend relevant conferences and virtual meetups. \nSUCCESSFUL PHARMACISTS \nDEVELOP HABITS THAT KEEP THEM ENGAGED WITH EMERGING THERAPIES, NEW GUIDELINES","cbCaijg4SSRI0Mes","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaijg4SSRI0Mes","pdf",260835,"English","# Preparing for Licensure: It’s More Than Just Studying\n# Building a Professional Identity: Resume, Interviews, and Beyond\n# Finding Your Path\n# Becoming a Lifelong Learner: CE and Clinical Curiosity\n# Building Your Network: Relationships That Last\n# Planning for the Future: Financially and Personally","[{\"question\":\"When should licensure preparation begin for NAPLEX and MPJE?\",\"answer\":\"Licensure preparation should start before graduation, not after.
