Freedom's Facts\n\nA PUBLICATION OF THE ALL-AMERICAN CONFERENCE TO COMBAT COMMUNISM1028 CONNECTICUT AVENUE,N.W.,WASHINGTON,D.C.20036 \nVOL.13,NO.4 \nAPRIL 1965 \n## STUDENT DEMONSTRATIONSTO INCREASE IN U.S.\n\nThe number of student demonstrations and demands hasincreased on college and university campuses over the pastfew months. \nThis trend will continue throughout 1965. \nThe causes for which student activists fight are varied:Ban the Bomb;Withdraw U.S.Forces from South Viet Nam;civil rights, and defense of college professors accused ofteaching Marxism or assigning obscene books for reading inliterature courses. \nStudents also are demonstrating for more freedom inhousing regulations, dates in dormitory rooms, and the rightto listen to Communist speąkers on campus. \nIn the midst of this student turmoil a number of newstudent organizations are being formed.Among these are:Students for a Democratic Society;the W.E.B.DuBois clubs(W.E.B.DuBois was a Negro scholar who announced member-ship in the Communist Party,USA,shortly before his death afew years ago);and the May 2 movement. \n## Do Communists Play a Role?\n\nLooking at these student movements for more freedom,Communists see an opportunity to disintegrate campus lifeand extend this disintegration to the communities aroundthe campuses. \nHere's how.As student movements become more aggressivein their demands,Communists figure that college and univer-sity administrations will increase their repressive measuresagainst the students. This increased opposition will escalatethe intensity of student demands. \nCommunists figure that the result will be a breakdownof campuses into two hostile groups-students plus a fewsympathetic members of faculties pitted against the collegeor university administration and“big business”representa-tives on the college or university Board of Directors. \nSuch a split is the starting point for a major class war-fare in which Communists would try to maneuver the studentsinto fighting for Communist-helping causes against univer-sity authority backed by big business. \nAs part of the breakdown on the American campus, you canwatch for student demonstrations supporting faculty demandsfor greater academic freedom, including freedom to assignobscene books as required reading in classes;higher facultypay;improved tenure, and so on.This maneuver will tendto unify the faculty with the students in opposition to theadministration.MORE.. \n## INSIDE FEATURES\n\nMoscow Countdown... … ...2World Scope. …… ……..3Afro-Asians Plot WASHINGTON\n\nHold your hats.A new march on Washington is being \nplanned for April 17. \nThe group behind it is the new Students for a Democratic \nSociety. \nPurpose of this march will be to\"End the War in Viet \nNam.\" \nReasons to be projected are these: \nThis is a civil war in which the U.Sshould play no part; \nit is a losing war;that is,in the opinion of these few stu- \ndents,neither the U.S.nor the free South Vietnamese can \nwin it;it is a dangerous war, since it could escalate into \na major conflict between the U.S.and Red China;it is a \nwar Congress never declared;and it is an immoral war,in \nwhich U.S.citizens and equipment are being used to kill \nothers who do not threaten the territory of the U.S. \nThe April 17 March on Washington is to include picket- \ning of the White House,a march down the Mall to the Capitol. \nIt is reported that a U.S.Senator and I.F.Stone,author \nof a Washington newsletter, will address the demonstrators. \n## What's the Other Side?\n\nAre these students forgetting something?Of course \nthey are. \nThe strategy, and tactics, the political and much of \nthe physical support for the Viet Cong is coming from Com- \nmunist North Viet Nam,Red China and the Soviet Union. \nWhile the conflict is taking place in South Viet
