The test is divided by grade level, with the CogAT Level 7 being administered to 1st graders. The most current version of the test, the CogAT Form 8, has three sections: Verbal, Nonverbal, and Quantitative. Each of these sections has three unique question types. The table below shows all nine question types: \n\n| Verbal Battery | Nonverbal Battery | Quantitative Battery |\n| --- | --- | --- |\n| Picture Analogies | Figure Matrices | Number Analogies |\n| Sentence Completion | Figure Classification | Number Puzzles |\n| Picture Classification | Paper Folding | Number Series |\n\nYou can view a sample question from each battery below. Answers and explanations can be found at the end. The correct answer is the snowflake. In the top row, the first picture is of a brick wall. The second picture is a single brick. Brick walls are made up of many bricks. \nThe bottom row should follow the same pattern. The fi rst picture shows a snowman. The correct answer will be something that a snowman is made of, making the snowflake the right answer. \nFigure Matrices: C. The correct answer is the larger black diamond with the smaller grey triangle inside. In the top row, the first box has a larger grey square with a small black circle in the middle. In the second box, the same shapes appear, but they have switched sizes so that the circle is larger and the square is small. Also, the circle is now behind the square. \nThe bottom row should follow the same pattern. In the first box, there is a large grey triangle with a small black diamond in the middle. The correct answer should then have the shapes switch sizes and have the diamond move to the back, so that there is a large black diamond with a small grey triangle in the middle of it. \nNumber Series: C. The correct answer is 8 beads. From left to right, there are 2, 4, and 6 beads. This means that in each row, the number of beads increases by 2. If we continue this pattern, the next row will have 2 more than 6, which is 8 beads. \nContinue Practicing with Elm Academy You can continue practicing with more free CogAT sample questions.
