Using qualitative descriptive methodology and close textual analysis, the study draws on concepts such as fragmented subjectivity, the collapse of grand narratives, and identity as a cultural construct. Findings show identity continuously reshaped by media culture and commercialization, while fragmented dialogue and a disjointed structure destabilize communication and meaning.","Republic of Iraq\nMinistry of Higher Education and Scientific Research\nUniversity of Tikrit\nCollege of Education for Humanities\nDepartment of English\nFragmented identity in Sam Shepard's Angel City\nA Graduation Project\nSubmitted to The Council of the College of Education for Humanities, University of Tikrit, in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Bachelor’s\nBy\nTabarak Mohammad Fayad\nSupervised By:\nLecturer: Amin Abdulwahed Khalaf Hamad\n2026. The research aims to explore how identity is represented as unstable, fluid, and constructed under the influence of cultural, social, and economic forces, particularly within the context of the Hollywood film industry. The study is motivated by the relative lack of critical attention given to Angel City compared to Shepard’s other plays, despite its rich exploration of identity crisis and media influence\nThe research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach based on close textual analysis of the play. It applies key concepts from postmodern theory, including fragmented subjectivity, the collapse of grand narratives, and identity as a cultural construct, as discussed by theorists such as Stuart Hall, Jean-François Lyotard, and Fredric Jameson. The analysis focuses on three main aspects: the fragmentation of identity through characters, the use of fragmented dialogue and language, and the influence of the Hollywood environment.\nThe findings reveal that identity in Angel City is not fixed but continuously reshaped by external pressures, particularly media cul","cbCaikmgkKDkl2Rl","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaikmgkKDkl2Rl","docx",75541,1,27,"English","en",105,"# Introduction\n## Background of fragmented identity in Sam Shepard\n## Angel City as an experimental play","[{\"question\":\"What is the main research focus of the graduation project?\",\"answer\":\"The project focuses on how fragmented identity is represented in Sam Shepard’s Angel City, especially in relation to postmodern theory and the Hollywood film industry.\"},{\"question\":\"What research method and theoretical framework does the study use?\",\"answer\":\"It uses a qualitative descriptive approach based on close textual analysis, applying postmodern concepts such as fragmented subjectivity, the collapse of grand narratives, and identity as a cultural construct.\"},{\"question\":\"What do the findings suggest about the characters’ identities in Angel City?\",\"answer\":\"The findings indicate that identity is not fixed;
