FOLYOTS\n\n6lyots are tiny creatures formed from rawelemental energy, fragmentary scraps of theirrespective elements. On their home plane, folyots form barely-discernable pieces of the②formless energies there, but magic can drawthem out and give them shape on other planes.Elemental Animus. On the planes where they \n# VARIANT:FoLYOT FAMILIAR\n\nFolyots are sometimes conjured as assistants andcompanions by accomplished spellcasters. At theDM's discretion, characters with the ability toconjure special familiars, such as a warlock withthe Pact of the Chain option, may be permitted toconjure a folyot as their familiar. \noriginate,a folyot is formless, like any elemental However, unlike larger elementals, their parent element's wild naturedoes not manifest so strongly in a folyot. This, combined withthe folyot's simple-minded,almost childlike personality, makes them much easier to summon and control than theirlarger kin. \nIn addition, some folyots can be persuaded toserve a spellcaster as a familiar. In such cases, when the folyot gives its service freely rather thanbeing summoned deliberately, the folyot gains thefollowing trait. \nProducts and Byproducts. There are numerous spells andartefacts that allow the wielder to draw elemental energyfrom its home plane and shape it into the diminutive form ofa folyot. This activity is often used as a training exercise, being inherently less dangerous than summoning fullelementals, which assert their wild nature more strongly andare prone toviolently resisting the summons. At times, however, folyots are created by other means;it does not takemuch magic to form one,and some mages have found thatthe repeated summoning of elementals will result in theformation of folyots from stray magical residue.Experiencedsummoners know that it is prudent to never call too many fireelementals from the same bonfire,or water elementals fromthe same wellspring, without occasionally pausing to allowthe accumulated elemental energies to dissipate. \nFamiliar.The folyot can serve another creature as afamiliar, forming a magic, telepathic bond with thatwilling companion. While the two are bonded, thecompanion can sense what the folyot senses aslong as they are within 1 mile of each other.Whilethe folyot is within 10 feet of its companion, thecompanion gains advantage on saving throwsagainst spells and other magical effects that dealdamage of the foylot's element. At any time and forany reason, the folyot can end its service as afamiliar, ending the telepathic bond. \n# DROPLET FoLYOT \n\nFolyot Familiars.Given their small size and relative ease ofsummoning, folyots are often employed as familiars byelementalists and mages.Whilst more troublesome thanconventional familiars, the elemental nature of a folyot grantsthem particular abilities that some find extremely useful.Elemental Nature.A folyot doesn't require air, food, drink, orsleep. \nA droplet folyot takes the form of water, enough to fill a smallbucket. When resting, the folyot behaves as normal water;albeit with a strange tendency to somehow replenish itselfshould it be splashed or poured. When active, the folyot risesup like a small fountain, forming the rough shape of a facefrom the ripples on its surface.A droplet folyot is perhaps themost playful of its kind, often quite happy to sit and babble toitself in rapid Aquan. \n# BONE FOLYOT \n\nEMBER FOLYOT \nBone folyots are rarely seen and rarely spoken of.Thesemacabre spirits are projections of pure necrotic energy, drawn from the nether realms into the material world wherethey form into a material uncannily like bone, animated by afaintly-glowing mist.Bone folyots are occasionally seen inservice to necromancers, and have been known to form onthe site of terrible magical battles,or in desecratedmausoleums.Bone folyots are fascinated by death, and areoccasionally puzzled by mortals'insistence on avoiding it. \nAn ember folyot resembles a cluster of burning coalswreathed in flames that form the shape of a face and hands, slumping to
