of“creating”folkdances seems contradictory, since the term \"folk\"usually impliesthe fruit of anonymous creating. But today in Israel, where theJewish people are renewing national life in their own country, under natural conditions of which they had been deprived for manycenturies, folk works of art are being created in the fields of song, dance and festival by people whom everbody knows. These artistscreate, using traditional folk elements and styles as a basis:theircreations,if and when adopted by the people, become folk worksof art. \nOne of the artists whose works have been accepted isRivka Sturman. She started her work in Kibbutz Ein-Harod,firstwith school children and later with adults, concentrating mostly onthe preparation for appearances in holiday celebrations but alsotrying to stylize and make more colourful the conventional\"hora\"dances.Rivka Sturman has based her work upon dance steps andstyles adopted naturally by the israeli young people, and uponmovements of the Yemenite Jews. From these sources she hascreated dances which are simple yet include free and lively move-ments to suit the youth of Israel,—movements with\"width\"andabandon,steps with gaiety and feeling. \nToday she is harvesting a rich crop of twenty creative years:her dances have penetrated far and wide among folk dance enthu-siasts both in Israel and abroad. \nThe Folk Dance Committee of the Cultural Committee, inpublishing this booklet of 10 Israeli folk dances created by RivkaSturman, wishes to express to her its appreciation and best wishesfor continued creative activity in the field. \nThe Publisher \n## EL HARAHAT\n\nCircle dance for couples \nLyrics:Sara Levi \nMusic:Sara Levi \nN2?DQ7N717?·2ウウ2NNEIHE)ELHARA·HA7ELHA·RA·HAT HEHA·A·u Lu BE·E·RI16n·D7卫?卫?1we?n·D?N7 T
