The Earth’s Moon is covered in powdery soil, craters, and dead volcanoes but \nwhen seen from the Earth the full Moon can \nsometimes look like a disk of cheese with holes in it or as if it has a face. \nArtists have created many pictures of the Moon, see some below. \nHow do you see the moon? \nTo Do: Create a picture of the Moon using the disk supplied. \nYou may paint, draw or make a collage. \nActivity 2: The MOON’S Phases \nThe Moon’s appearance from Earth constantly changes as it travels around the earth (this is called orbiting) . Some nights we see the full moon and other nights we see just a small part of the moon. \nTo Do: Have you seen the Moon look different on different nights? Create a picture of the of the different Moon phases you have seen. \nThe pictures below show how other artists have created pictures of the \nphases ofthe Moon. \nActivity 3: Exploring the MOON \nWould you like to take a trip on the moon’s surface? The Moon is the only planet-like object in space, other than Earth, where humans have set foot. American astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin \nin July 1969, were the first people to walk on the moon. \nTo Do: Imagine you are an astronaut on the Moon and want to go for a drive to explore its surface on a specially designed vehicle called rover. \nWhat will your vehicle look like? Make a drawing of it. \nCan you build one with the material supplied? Have a go! \nApollo 15 – Commander David Scott drives the Rover near the LM Falcon \nActivity 4: A room on the MOON \nWould you like to live on the Moon? \nPerhaps in a non-to-distant future living on the Moon may be possible. The Moon is full of Lunar Lava tubes which are tunnels under the Moon’s surface formed during volcanic eruptions millions of years ago. They are hollow and quite large. If humans want to live on the moon these natural tunnels could provide protection from the Sun’s heat as well as meteorites that crash into the moon’s surface. These tunnels could be made bigger to \nallow communities of humans to live. \nTo Do: Imagine a city built inside a lunar lava tube. \nCreate a picture of it. \nActivity 5: MOON visitors \nPerhaps aliens have visited the moon too and these creatures are lurking \naround on the moon. \nScientists are always searching for signs of alien life form in the universe. If humans can travel through space in a rocket—maybe aliens could, too. \nTo Do: Imagine that as you are exploring on the moon you come upon a group of strange-looking creatures. Since you don’t know if they are friendly or dangerous you hide behind a rock and take a picture. \nWhat do these creatures look like? Model a few creatures with plasticine. \nActivity 1: The Brightness and Beauty of Venus \nAncient astronomers named the sun, moon and five visible planets Mercury, \nVenus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn after their great gods. \nThe planet Venus was named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty. From Earth, Venus appears the second brightest body in the night sky after the moon. Perhaps it is because of its brightness and beautiful sight that it \nwas named Venus. \nTo Do: Below are some images of the planet Venus made by artists, \nand scientists. \nCreate your own picture of Venus using the disk supplied. You may paint, draw or make a collage of the way you see Venus. \nActivity 2: Extreme Venus \nVenus is often called “Earth’s sister” as they have a few things in common, such as their size and structure but the environment on Venus is very \ndifferent to Earth. \nIt is very hot, the hottest planet in our Solar System, its atmosphere is full of poisonous gases, there are violent winds, thunderstorms and it’s full of acid \nrain and clouds (that smell like rotten eggs) . Not a nice place to go for your holidays. \nBut if you were a space explorer exploring Venus you would need to wear a very special suit that keeps you cool (both in ","cbCaido1LJyU8u7P","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaido1LJyU8u7P","pdf",5085902,"English","# Activity 1: The Earth’s MOON\n## To Do: Create a picture of the Moon\n# Activity 2: The MOON’S Phases\n## To Do: Draw the Moon phases you have seen\n# Activity 3: Exploring the MOON\n## To Do: Design a rover and explore the surface\n# Activity 4: A room on the MOON\n## To Do: Create a picture of a lunar lava-tube city\n# Activity 5: MOON visitors\n## To Do: Model strange creatures and take a photo\n# Activity 1: The Brightness and Beauty of Venus\n## To Do: Create your own picture of Venus\n# Activity 2: Extreme Venus\n## To Do: Design a special suit for Venus\n# Activity 3: Volcanoland\n## To Do: Make a Venus surface model\n# Activity 4: The Venus Express\n## To Do: Draw and build a spacecraft to image Venus\n# Activity 5: Mission Patch\n## To Do: Design a mission patch for a space mission","[{\"question\":\"How can learners make a picture of the Moon in Activity 1?\",\"answer\":\"Use the provided disk and choose a method such as painting, drawing, or collage to represent how the Moon looks from Earth.\"},{\"question\":\"What do Activity 2 and Activity 3 ask students to do?\",\"answer\":\"Activity 2 asks learners to create a picture showing different Moon phases they have seen.
