Commission(MACC)Chief Commissioner Tan SriAzam Baki confirmed that inves-tigations were ongoing into abank loan syndicate that wasshut down under Operation Sky.  \nOn Jan 13,the MACC's.Anti-Money Laundering Division,to-gether with Bank NegaraMalaysia,raiding 24 locations inthe Klang Valley and arresting 12people.  \nTo date,27 people had been ar-rested,including 18bank officers,eight employees of a financialconsultancy firm,and one mem-ber of the public.All have beenreleased on MACC bail.  \nTheir investigation found thatthe syndicate had paid celebritiesto promote and endorse theirbusiness.  \nAzam also revealed that thesyndicate had sponsored con-certs and funded specially ar-ranged songs in its operations.  \nFadhlina said the ministrywould also leave it to the relevantauthorities to investigate.  \nShe hoped it would be handledswiftly to protect the welfare ofteachers.  \nFormer education minister DrMaszlee Malik had called on theministry to provide further clar-ification regarding the loan syn-dicate targeting civil servants,particularly teachers.  \nHe was quoted as saying thatthe ministry had never allowedany private party to use schoolsand teachers
