The exam is competency based and designed to determine whether applicants have the knowledge, skills and judgment to practice safely without endangering the public.  \nThe second part of the practice test describes the exam: what it tests, how it is developed and scored, and how applicants can prepare. The Practice Test has 101 questions selected to correspond with the Examination Blueprint. Rationales for the correct and incorrect answers and question-specific references are included to assist applicants in preparation. A list of references used in creating the questions, or which may interest applicants who wish to study certain topics in greater depth, is also included.  \nPreparing to write the exam  \nThe following information will help you to understand more about the exam.  \nFrequency  \nThe exam is offered up to twice per year.  \nLanguage  \nThe exam can be written in English or French.  \nTime  \nApplicants will be allowed a maximum of three and a half hours to complete the examination.  \nFormat  \nThe exam consists of approximately 170 to 185 multiple choice questions. The exam is designed to enable the College to make reliable and valid decisions about an applicant’s readiness to practise safely and ethically.  \nThe multiple choice questions are presented either as case-based or independent questions. Casebased questions may include a set of approximately three to five questions associated with a briefcase scenario. The applicant is required to read the case scenario carefully and use the content to assist in answering all the associated questions. Independent questions will contain the information necessary to answer the question.  \nEvery question will consist of a stem (question) and four possible options. There is only ONE best answer for each question.
