In an industry where actors often arrive with a carefully manufactured image, Rao seemed content to let his work do the talking. He came to Mumbai with an ambition to act, trained at the Film and Television Institute of India, and began with the kind of roles that rarely come with whistles, glamour or guaranteed box-office returns. Yet, slowly and surely, he built one of the most interesting careers in contemporary Hindi cinema. \nHis breakthrough came with Love Sex Aur Dhokha (2010), where he was hardly the conventional hero but immediately made himself noticed. Then came Ragini MMS, Shahid, CityLights, Aligarh, Trapped and Newton, films that could hardly have been more different from one another. As a lawyer fighting for justice in Shahid, a struggling husband in CityLights, a man desperately trying to survive in Trapped or an idealistic government clerk in Newton, Rao demonstrated an extraordinary willingness to disappear into his characters. \nShahid brought him the National Film Award for Best Actor. His work has also been recognised repeatedly at the Filmfare Awards. \nHe has won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor (Critics’) for Shahid, Trapped and Srikanth. He has also been honoured with the Filmfare Award for Best Actor In A Leading Role (Male) for Badhaai Do, underlining how comfortably he can move between serious cinema and mainstream entertainment. \nThat versatility is perhaps his greatest achievement. Rao has never been afraid of diverse choices. He has played the eccentric Vicky in Stree, a small-town romantic in Bareilly Ki Barfi, a closeted policeman in Badhaai Do, a social climber in The White Tiger, a determined entrepreneur who overcomes his blindness in Srikanth and a host of ordinary men whose lives acquire an unusual intensity simply because he inhabits them. \nAnd then there is his ability to make even an ordinary man interesting. Rao does not need a dramatic entrance. Give him a smalltown face, an awkward smile, a nervous gesture or a line delivered halfa beat differently, and he can make a character linger in the memory. \nPerhaps that is why his career feels less like a carefully mapped journey and more like a collection of happy discoveries. Despite his numerous awards and accolades he has never seemed overly concerned with proving that he is the biggest talent in the room. \nHe appears more interested in being the right actor for the right part. And after more than a decade and a half of making wonderfully unpredictable choices, that may be Rajkummar Rao’s most impressive achievement of all. He’s on our cover this month so turn the pages to know more about the man who would soon be playing Sourav Gangulyon screen. \nFor more on tinseltown’s news and updates find me on Twitter @jiteshpillaai \n[4 FILMFARE AUGUST-SEPTEMBER 2026 / www.filmfare.com](4 FILMFARE AUGUST-SEPTEMBER 2026 / www.filmfare.com) \nKING’S RANGE \nUM UNFLAVOURED CONDOMS \n\\#MAKE HER FEEL LIKE A QUEEN \n76 44 \n46 50 \n60 \nPreview \n16 \nDivya Sharma and Niharika NM share their dreams and desires \nLifestyle \n22 \nKritika Kamra shares pages from her honeymoon \n26travel diary \nAnita Dongre \ntakes us through her journey \nExclusives \nKriti Sanon shoots \n44 \nsome quick bytes \n46 \n50 \n54 \nVikrant Massey talks about romance and more Raghav Juyal says acting is his new passion \nVedika Pinto is ina happy space \n113 \nMahendra Kapoor’s son Ruhan Kapoor talks about his father \nAwards Show Report \n60 \nAll that happened at the Filmfare Awards Marathi 2026 \nAwards Winners \n76 \nAll the winners of the recently held Filmfare Awards Marathi 2026 \nYour Say \n118 \n120 \nReaders write-in their reviews andrants Shatrughan Sinha’s racy rejoinders \n120 ","cbCaijClZaJSbMTt","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaijClZaJSbMTt","pdf",32069452,124,"English","# Letter from the Editor\n## The Quiet Achiever\n# Preview\n# Lifestyle\n## Travel diary\n# Exclusives\n# Awards Show Report\n## Filmfare Awards Marathi 2026\n# Awards Winners\n# Your Say","[{\"question\":\"What is the main editorial focus in this issue?\",\"answer\":\"The editor’s letter, titled “The Quiet Achiever,” discusses Rajkummar Rao’s unhurried rise and the range of roles that shaped his career.\"},{\"question\":\"Which awards content is included?\",\"answer\":\"The issue contains an “Awards Show Report” covering what happened at the Filmfare Awards Marathi 2026 and an “Awards Winners” section listing the winners.\"},{\"question\":\"What other sections can readers expect besides editorials and awards?\",\"answer\":\"The issue includes a Preview, Lifestyle (including travel and fashion-related content), Exclusives, and “Your Say,” which features reader reviews and comments.\"}]","Filmfare August-September 2026 | PDF",1790287580,191]
