Preparedness and Response (EPR) Workshop \n10 – 12 December 2024, Suva, Fiji. \nBackground \nThe regional Pacific Food Security Cluster (rPFSC) under the umbrella of cluster lead agencies, WFP and FAO, cohosted with the Fiji Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways (MoAW) together with Fiji Food Security and Livelihoods Cluster (FSLC), a 3-day workshop on Emergency Preparedness & Response (EPR) to strengthen preparedness plans to ensure Fiji’s food security and livelihoods are protected this cyclone season. \nThe Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) workshop was organized from 10 – 12 December 2024, Suva, Fiji which was attended by the various stakeholders from the Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways (MoAW) and its respective units as well as representatives from cluster member agencies. \nThe workshop is a crucial component of MoAW preparedness strategy for this cyclone season, which runs from November to April. The primary objective of the workshop was to enhance MoAW readiness to respond effectively to emergencies. The outputs generated from this workshop will play a vital role in shaping MoAW preparedness and response planning process for the agriculture sector in Fiji. Specifically, these outputs will contribute to the necessary needs assessment for preparedness, inform their understanding of risk related information and potentially serve as a foundational basis for future risk analysis. Furthermore, the workshop aimed to provide cross-cutting, informed response through received recommendations from the technical stakeholders of the workshop that will be applicable to food security sector involved in disaster response and management in Fiji. \nEPR Workshop Summary Highlights \nDay 1, 10 December (Tuesday) 2024 \nThe workshop formally started with the welcome remarks from Dr. Tekini Nakidakida (Deputy Secretary Agriculture Department-DSAD), Alpha Bah (Country Director – WFP) and Joann Young (Assistant FAO-R) . Sessions were started with the presentation from NDRMO on 2024/25 Cyclone Season Outlook updates with Governance acts and legislations. Further, quick updates were provided by the Fiji Met Service (FMS) on the 2024/5 Cyclone Season Forecast. \nDetailed presentations were provided by Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways (MOAW) on the DRM SOPs, FSLC Fiji SOPs, MOA SOPs, Agriculture Production Survey 2024, Preliminary Report II: Consumption of Dietary and Nutrition Food Groups for Agriculture Households in Fiji. It was further supported by another detailed presentation on the Baseline Data for Cyclone Season entailed detail picture of Tropical Seasonal Outlook. \nNext session was on Technical Partner Dialogue where the FSLC partner Field Ready and ADRA presented detail presentation on Cyclone Seasonal Preparedness and Response Actions updates which was further continued with Q&A sessions from participants. \nThe next session was on scenario planning including the contents on risk analysis, likelihood/impact assessment, risk and scenario analysis. Participants worked together in different provincial groups, having different climate induced emergencies dynamics, under aforementioned scenario planning aspects. \nDay 2, 11 December (Wednesday) 2024 \nDay two started with needs assessment in which the IDA/DDA questionnaire was discussed in detail with Q&A session. The following session addressed standardized FSC packages for emergency response particularly on ration basket with NutVal data and information, agriculture and livestock packages, and cash intervention packages. Participants enjoyed this compact session covering the main three broader areas of FS emergency packages. \nThe last session of the day was on information management system of Food Security Livelihood Cluster (FSLC), covering the highlights how the information is used to be collected, refined, analyzed and presented as dashboards and bulletins and why it is important to have IM data with 5Ws matrix during emergencies to avoid duplication of ","cbCaiugskOZQKdi2","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiugskOZQKdi2","pdf",1210446,11,"English","# Background\n# Workshop Summary Highlights\n## Day 1: 10 December 2024\n## Day 2: 11 December 2024\n## Day 3: 12 December 2024","[{\"question\":\"What was the main objective of the EPR workshop for MoAW?\",\"answer\":\"To enhance MoAW readiness to respond effectively to emergencies and support preparedness and response planning for Fiji’s agriculture sector during the cyclone season.\"},{\"question\":\"Which organizations co-hosted the workshop?\",\"answer\":\"The regional Pacific Food Security Cluster (rPFSC) led by WFP and FAO, cohosted with the Fiji Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways, together with the Fiji Food Security and Livelihoods Cluster (FSLC).\"},{\"question\":\"What key topics were covered across the three days?\",\"answer\":\"Cyclone outlook and forecast updates, DRM and cluster SOPs, needs assessment and emergency response packages, information management systems, risk and scenario planning, cross-cutting gender and protection considerations, and a SIMEX exercise based on Cyclone Vasiti.\"}]","Fiji Emergency Preparedness and Response Workshop Report - 10-12 December 2024 | PDF",1791008633,28]
