Directors noted that the CPF is an example of how the WBG can respond to the challenges faced by Small States and island economies.  \nDirectors stressed the importance of sustainable private sector-led growth to bolster Fiji’s rapid economic recovery from the unprecedented triple shocks posed by COVID-19 and natural disasters. Directors urged the Bank Group to support a more resilient growth model to help Fiji withstand future external shocks, especially strengthening of the social protection system and reform of the disaster risk management plan to withstand short-term shocks. They appreciated the focus on gender and the need to address women’s economic participation, educational attainment, and gender-based violence.  \nDirectors highlighted the critical importance of revitalizing sustainable tourism and economic diversification aided by enhanced attention to sustainable infrastructure for economic and climate resilience to achieve sustainable recovery. They emphasized the development of linkages to small-and medium-sized enterprises, agribusiness and supply chain development, and aquaculture, which can be instrumental for the bottom 40% of the population.  \nDirectors recognized the constraints imposed by Fiji’s small market size and geographic isolation. They urged IFC and MIGA to catalyze private investments in leading sectors such as digital technologies, take advantage of the IDA19 Private Sector Window, help enable knowledge and technology transfer, and mobilize domestic and foreign investment.  \nDirectors emphasized collaboration with other development partners, including regional partners, to maximize impact and avoid overlapping efforts.
