Spring 1951 |\n| --- | --- | --- |\n\nFAMILYGRAMS \nSpring,1951 \n# NATIONAL FAMILY WEEK\n\nMay 6--13 \nConsiderable effort is being put forth thisyear, particularly through the thousands of groupsthroughout the country associated with the NationalCouncil of Catholic Women,to develop a greater andmore active interest than heretofore in National FamilyWeek。This \"Week\",which always begins on the firstSunday of May and ends on the second Sunday, will extendthis year from May sixth to the thirteenth。 \nTo help provide suitable material for pro…·grams for National Family Week, the May issue of TheFamily Digest is being devoted entirely to THE CHTLD。This issue will carry most of the papers on child \ncare and training that were presented at the St。Louisfamily life conference,March 5-7。It should help verymuch to bring this excellent and up-to-date material tothe attention of thousands who were not able to be pre-sent at the sessions in St。Louis。 \nThe Family Life Bureau will send a copy ofthis special issue of The Family Digest to all Dio…·cesan Directors of Family Life and to all members ofthe National Catholic Conference on Family Life as \nsoon as it is off the press -presumably about April 25。The National Council of Catholic Women wi.ll send copiesto its diocesan groups, and particularly to the headsof the many Committees on the Family and ParentEducation within these groups。 This particularventure should provide a first rate opportunity for the \nDiocesan Directors of Family Life and the many units ofthe National Councils of Catholic Women to combinetheir efforts in promoting the parent education move-ment and in undertaking other activities in the far-flung field of the family apostolate。 \n# FAMILY LITERATURE\n\nWith this issue of Familygrams we are sendingthe following small publications: The Child: OurPledge: The Christian in Action-in the Home; TheFamily in a Revolutionary World. \nThe pledge to the child was drawn up becauseof the decidedly secularistic tone of the pledge issuedby the Midcentury White House Conference on Chi.ldrenand Youth。It is to be hoped that it will be widelycirculated. The Directors of Family Life will undoubt-edly find a variety of ways and means for doing this. The Raleigh Chancery just ordered 500 copies, directingthat they be sent to a woman's organization of thediocese for distribution. \nThe Christian in Action -in the Home bookletcontains a radio panel, sponsored by the NationalCouncil of Catholic Men and conducted in conjunctionwith the St.Louis family life conference of March 5-7.The panel aimed to show in brief the organizationalset-up of our family life work and the main types ofactivities being carried on in the field of the familyapostolate。 \nThe Family in a Revolutionary World is areprint of an article appearing in the December,1950,issue of the American Benedictine Review. It discussesthe influence of the industrial, the religious andthe ideological revolutions of the day on the family。 \nYour Child1s World. This is the title of apocket-size book being published by the Paulist Press.Whether it will be finished for distribution for \nNational Family Week we cannot say definitely,at \nthis time。At all events, however,it will be availablefor the usual Fall programs。The book is for the mostpart a digest and revision of the former large volume,Parent and Child,by McDonough and Schmiedeler。It isbeing published as a posket-size book in order that itmay be made available at as low a price as possible。Although the book will contain between two and threehundred pages,it will probably sell for 354。 \nIn most issues of Fa","cbCair8k4EhR25qF","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCair8k4EhR25qF","pdf",491773,16,"English","# NATIONAL FAMILY WEEK\n## FAMILY LITERATURE\n## NEW
