has been a considerable growth of smallCatholic Information Centers the past few years.Abouta dozen of these are now handling publications of theFamily Life Bureau。Possibly some of the Family LifeDirectors will find ways of helping to promote thisparticular activity。We badly need to get our ideason marriage and the family to the mass of people,Catholic and non-Catholic。 \nA TIMELY NEW PUBLICATION:MARRIAGE COUNSELING \nThis booklet represent: the first attempt \nto bring together in pamphlet form the views of Catholicauthorities in this growing and highly important field。MARRIAGE COUNSELING should prove helpful to the Di-rectors。We feel, too, that there is much of interestand usefuiness in the publication for pastors。Per-haps the Directors can find means of bringing it tothe attention of all of them in their respectivedioceses or archdioceses。 \nIndidentally,by far the greatest amount ofthe Family Life Bureau's publications disposed ofthe past year went to pastors。 \n# ACTIVITIES AND CHANNELS OF ACTION\n\nWith the Fall just ahead,it should be well torecall the general lines of action being followed byour Catholic Family Apostolate。This should be help-ful to all who are interested in planning Fall orWinter activity programs。The following are perhapsthe major or outstanding types of activities beingpromoted: \n1。The dissemination of Christian principlesand ideals regarding marriage and family life, andthe countering of the false ideology of the day inthese fields. \n2。The reintroduction of religious practicesinto the home。 \n3。The development of a program of recrea-tional and social interests on the home hearth。 \n4。The elimination of social and economicevils that are harmful to the family。 \n5.The promotion of a program of parent edu-cation or child care within the home. \n6。The encouragement of marriage preparationcourses suited both to teen-agers and to engagedcouples. \n7。The promotion of activities of an inspira-tional nature in the family field。 \nMore specifically, activities that enjoyedvery considerable growth the past year and that sug-gest possibilities for effective programs of actionthe year ahead are the following: \nMarriage preparation forums or courses; \nfamily retreats;the family holy hour, with renewalof the marriage vows and recitation of the pledgeto Christian marriage;discussion or study clubs;religious practices in the home;Mr。and Mrs.Clubsor the bringing together of groups of married couples,in their homes or elsewhere, for lectures and dis-cussions and also for a measure of social life;family institutes;conferences and conventions. \n# WORKING WITH ORGANIZATIONS\n\nThe Diocesan Directors of Family Life willfind a variety of organizations that are interestedin family programs,or that can easily be interestedin them。Councils of Catholic Women in a large num-ber of dioceses are doing excellent work in thisfield, and the Directors will do well to give them·their heartfelt cooperation and assistance。They areofficial groups, working under the direction of their \n2 \nbishops。To cooperate with them is to keep the workgrounded on the official units of the Church---thediocese,deanery,and parish---0n which they basetheir activity programs.Needless to say, there isno better basis for it,and there are no betterchanneis for effectively reaching the great mass ofCatholic people。 \nThere are a considerable number of organized groupssome affiliated with the Councils of Catholic Women(or of Catholic Men),some not so affilited, that can be used to good advantage in promoting \nactivity programs in behalf of the family。 Such are,for instance, the followi","cbCaidr2nx5nkbu7","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaidr2nx5nkbu7","pdf",477455,14,"English","# Distribution of Printed Material\n##
